Waterproof servos
 

Ok I did a search and found alot on waterproofing servos but nothing on servos that come waterproofed. I am building a rig that is going to see water and so are some friends and we want to know what all servos are there that come waterproof and which ones are actually any good. Please help us and list the ones youu know of and any experience with them. Thanks"thumbsup"

yeah, me 2, just about ready to buy 1 but the only ons i find are the traxxas ones and they have plastic gears and then i see the hitec hs-5646wp but they only have around 170 to 180 ounces of torque, i'd like to have something at least 250 to 300 torque. RC4WD has a waterproof twister that has i think 278 ounces of torque that i'm leaning towards but can't seem to find anyone that has had 1 or any experience with one.

Those are the same ones I have found and the twister is the one that I am leaning toward myself but figured there has to be more. I would like one 250+ and would prefer titanium gears but I have not seen any with titanium gears that come waterproof. There is no way i will do the traxxas servo, it is to weak and plastic gears.

Why not waterproof them yourself? Some of the higher torque servos can be tricky being that the board is soldered directly to the motor but it's not too difficult a process.

I agree there aren't many waterproof servos out there.

I will waterproof one if I have to but would prefer to get one that is waterproof from the factory. I would like to keep the warranty on it and the second you open one to start waterproofing it the warranty is gone. If you spend 80-100 on one and something happens the 1st trip out you just have to spend that money again cause you lost the warranty.

there were some turnigy branded mg wp servos that were like 230-40 oz. i had 1 but never used it but i heard good things

just took a quick look and not on the bay anymore but maybe hobbyking? or whatever its called

i think the plasti dip is the way to go with a 7950.....i have the hitec WP and even at full 7.2, its weak......im not impressed at all, not to mention its on the slower side........i have a plastidipped 5995 hsr and its perfect.....twitchy as hell......:)

What about the Airtronics 94671? It's waterproof and 351oz torque at 7.4v and .11sec

Figured I would give this a bump since I know some new wp servos have now come out and I am interested in which ones are doing good and I am sure other people are also."thumbsup"

Any reviews on the savox wp servos or any others?

I have been submerging Hitec 7955 and 5955 servos since 2008 without doing anything to them. They are very waterproof. The only things I sometimes do is add more grease at the output and a dab of black rtv where the wires enter the case, just to be sure. They come with oring seals on the case and under the screw heads.

Yall are braver and luckier than I am. It seems like if mine touches wter with anything that doesn't say waterproof or hasn't been waterproofed very well it no longer works and at over 100 a servo I don't have that kind of $$$$$$. The only one I will get close to water now has a cheap servo I waterproofed a HH wp esc the bec and rx waterproofed and inside a sealed box. I still end up having to replace the arm of my motor and the brushes about every 2-3 runs. I don't just go play in the water either I just cross through it if we come to a creek. I just really don't like my cheap servo and don't want to risk a 100+ servo that I waterproofed just incase something happens. I along with many others want something from the factory that says it is waterproof from the factory.

I been talking up the Savox 1270. Ti gears and over 400 oz. of torque @ 7.4v. Pretty nice.

I'm with you craddock35, I have craptastic luck w/ electros and waterproofing. You guys are crazy submarining your stuff!

I suppose the first time I submerged my servos it was luck, because I really didn't know if they would work. I can tell you that I've never lost a Hitec servo from getting wet, but I can't give you a guarantee either. :ror:

Only ones I know of are traxxas crap the hitec which isn't enough savox just cane out with one just over 200 oz but I just buy what I want then waterproof it never had a problem yet except if I put too much dielectric grease in

I just bought a couple of Savox SW-0231Mg servo's. Cant comment on their performance yet as I haven't had time to run either scaler or foff that I got them for.

They have a 1210SG with 277 in torque also.

Ive got a couple of the Savox SW-0231Mg servo's as well and I like how they preform, granted they don't have a TON of torque but they more than get the job done for me because one is on a back-up/play rig that ALWAYS sees the water and the other is on my mud truck. As for the 1210SG, seems a little over priced for what it is, just my opinion though.
