Default Axial Remote Hungry on Batteries?

I had major steering twitching on my servo and could not find why. I am using a digital coreless hitec servo and I am aware of the chatter at zero but this was more than this. I am also running a CC BEC and the red wire of the ESC is pulled off.

I used a voltmeter to check my 4 AA batteries in the transmitter and they all came withing 1.1 to 1.3 volts.

I kept looking for a bad connections but could not find anything.

I swapped the 4 AA batteries for new ones that are 1.5 volts and it solve all the twitching.

Anybody else is having similar problems with their stock axial Transmitter?

Why cant it run properly with perfectly good batteries that are just slightly discharged?

I only used top of the shelf Duracell Coppertop. Go figure? I'll try another brand, energizer next. Thanks for the reply.

Other than me being an idiot and leaving it on, my axial remote lasts a couple weeks, usually with a G6 or two thrown in there

Thats the brand i am currently using, energizer ultimate lithium, if we have a gtg say 3-4 hrs, then another gtg 3-4 hrs, i gotta start watching my tx for low power then the servo starts twitching, my axial 2.4 is the only radio that does this, very odd i cant get anymore battery life out of it.

Yeah same happened to me, I have a pile of batteries @ ~1.2 volts to use for all my tv remotes and such. Good think I checked them out with my voltmeter before I threw them out. They still have lots of life for less hungry hippo's.

WOW!! Holy shit that's friggin expensive. I got mine at Target for $8.90 for a 4 pack. You might want to consider getting a life battery that will fit inside and soldering in a couple of plugs. That will save you a ton of money!! Or better yet, throwing that thing out and getting a better quality system.

I'll shop online for a better deal on these batteries (I bought them at Rexall drug store) until I buy a new remote, the rig is a total money pit at the moment. I'll upgrade the remote after I'm done my build.

Yeah that's no shit right there!!! It's fun, but there is absolutely no end in sight. And I don't know when to stop. It's the damn addiction...it won't let go and there's no cure known to medical science!!

One thing about checking battery voltages, you are checking them "open circuit", this means with no load. It's easy to have one or more cells that will tank under load, that is the important point.

I use old TX batteries in my Mini-Mag light to finish them off. Since my 3PM-x uses 8 AA's and the other TX's use only 4 AA's, we go through a lot of batteries.

PS, yes, some radios are more sensitive to low battery voltage than others.

Your GT3B only uses 4 AA's? Mine takes 8 but, they last quite awhile with the voltage regulator. I look for a Lipo that might fit almost every time I go to the LHS.

You get a cookie.....I was thinking of our other radios....yes, the GT3B uses 8 AA's as well.

We run quite a few different radios since crawling is not the only RC thing we do.

Thanks for pointing out my mistake.

[Yes, I will be doing the VR mod on my GT3B soon...have the parts, looking for the time....]
