Default Castle MMP Issues

Put a new Castle MMP in my wraith. The truck was twitching and tweaking. Not smooth. Also having power on issues. It would just shut off then reboot.

Hooked it up without the BEC and will not move the servo.

Any Ideas ??

Put it in sensored only mode and make sure the wire is fully connected. Use a BEC.

First: What type of motor do you have?
By default the MMP is (should be) set to SMART mode, which is for brushless motors only. Trying to run a brushed motor in that mode can, and often will, damage the ESC.

If you have a brushless motor without sensor you should run it in SMART mode and expect it to not run smooth at low speeds.

If you have a brushless motor with sensor make sure there's as little mechanical timing as possible. Also make sure the sensor cable is well inserted into the ESC, which takes some force.

With that taken care of, changing the firmware can help. I had troubles with 1.38 that disappeared when I went down to 1.33. I recently upgraded to 1.39 and haven't found any issues with that version this far.

motor is a tekin pro 4 4000kv. I am goign to go back to an older version of the firmware.

The concerning thing is the unit resetting and dropping power to the receiver and not being able to move the steering servo. Hope not an issue inside the MMP.

check it without the servo hooked up. the symptons described could also be a short coming from a bad servo.

I have yet to own a MMP that didn't need an external BEC.
Sounds like your problem with the receiver browning out.
Also, I would NEVER run a "beta"version of castle software. Jump back to 1.32 and see if your problems go away.

This is coming from the Man himself:
