Default Servo Problem

I'm still kinda new to R/C and I was driving with my nephew the other day and his servo quit turning to the left. It still turned a little bit but not much. It was a stock servo from an AX-10. I figured the servo was just going out so I put on a Tower Pro servo and it did the same thing. Took it off and put an Airtronics servo in and it does the same thing too. Sometimes it turns all the way without a problem, sometimes it turns part of the way, then back to center, then turns fully. Can someone tell me what is happening here?

This is an obvious question but is there anything fouling / resisting the turn through the whole steering angle? Have you tried turning it by hand and feeling any resistance? Another obvious question (but best to ask them anyway) is it a dry-steer problem or is this happening when it is in motion?

Is the starting position of the servo horn close to either 6 or 12 o'clock? It should be. If the horn is at an extreme angle when moving to the left, it could be causing problems.

A pic or two might help.

1 is the servo centered before you put the horn on?
2 when its not under load(off the ground) will the servo turn properly?
3 is the servo horn stripped? its common with a plastic horn.

x2 If your using a plastic(or even metal) servo horn or one with an insert that's the first thing I would look at. The second would be something that moves with the steering and is getting hung up when it moves a certain way.
