Default Multimeter

Please just buy one if you can afford it. A decent one for $40 is a wise investment. I see so many people on here chasing electrical problems by trial and error amd getting nowhere. To learn how to check voltage and resistance your looking at a time investment of probably less than a 1/2 hour. Since starting this hobby I have helped so many people out with electrical problems they could easily have fixed with a Meter and basic knowledge. Save yourself a lot of time and frustration, buy one an learn to use it.

( I wrote this because a guy at work had to replace his Tekin ESC and
thinking it was shot tossed the old one.Him and a couple other guys tried some different batteries and motors but couldn't get the motor to power up past about %10. New ESC and still wouldn't work. He brought it to work for me to look at and 30s with the multimeter and found there was an internal break in the battery power wire. You couldn't see it from the outside. There's an almost new Tekin FXr in the Fort Mcmurray garbage now lol)

If you're a cheap ass go get yourself a subscription to petersons 4wheel drive and there's always a harbor freight coupon for a free multimeter or flashlight or scissors. I have like 6 of each. On top of that theres usually some ok toilet time reading material and good ideas for your rc crawler

While I own or have access to various DVM's (digital volt meters), I bought my son his 1st. It was a ~$20 Radio Shack DVM that will do most of what everyone needs.

I have dozens of the Harbor Freight ones. Can't beat the price of free! But you need to have a HF store. Not online. Never had one fail me.
