Default lets see your failed AE-2 axial esc. and HOW????

AE-2, MODS and how, FAILURES and why, STILL KICKIN and why, YOUR overall VIEWS on this esc!!

tried to find another thread like this. couldnt.

........MY STORY........
I have had mine for a year. De-cased it, removed the heat sink, liquid electric covered it (waterproofed), added a CC 10A BEC to it running at 7.0v for my servo.
running it on ( 3300mah-45/90c 3s lipo ), ( 1200mah-100c-3s lipo ), and ( a 1200mah-50c-4s lipo )

yes 4s lipo all day!! on both 10t puller and 35t HH Pro motors.
I raN 2-3-4 cell lipo with a bec. all this and not a single failure yet with 2 different rigs.

am I lucky? or is this common.

tell us all your thoughts and experiences with this controller!!

thanks!!

the only one ive ever burnt up was my first one without bec, 27t motor 3s 30c 1300 mah batt, stopped arming up after a long miserble year of abuse getting wet, running the guts out of it ect, it started giving me glitching, jerky, powering down/back on issues for about 2 weeks before finally giving up the ghost. since then ive never had another single problem with them, i will only run them with a ccbec now while running on 3s. waterproof, ive seen one stop after about 15 seconds running through the creek, shutdown dried it out and away it went again, over all they are very good cheap escs

yes you can find them for 30-60 bucks all the time. really a great deal. they have good drag brake, can run 3-4s with a bec and take a beating!!

like i said mine has no heat sink and is waterproofed now and i run it hrd in a 10lb truck with a 10t puller motor and it takes it..3300 3s lipo last 3 hours maybe more. thats alot of running!

Bought one on eBay, hooked it up, drove it forward hit reverse and it went dead. This was the scx10 tha I was building for my son. I stopped chiming when you turn it on. I've tried every fix. The ebayer is sending me $25 for my troubles.
Conversly, my ae2 is running on 3s lipo with a cc bec and is amazing!,

Mine were abused on 3s by me for over a year and no problems. Ran a cc bec the whole time. One got sold and ones on my rental crawler with a 35t I went to a tekin pro4 3300kv brushless and mmp esc. Crawls just as good with way more power and no more heat issues.

so you think the brushless setup is better than a good brushed setup?

I run a AE2, HH 10t puller (the big one) and CC BEC, running 3s and I would never change for anything. the low end control and speed and all out power is amazing. and when i run 4sd its NUTZ..

I know a pro4 is supposed to be the poop but for the money this setup is the poop
THANKS for your post!

My AE-2 was waterproofed with Plastidip. Used an external BEC and ran 3s to a 27t handwound HH motor. It was a beast and never failed. At half the price or less than a BRXL or FXR you can't go wrong. And with any ESC I always run an external BEC.

seeeeee!! good stuff! and no not even close to the same as a sidewinder but yes same case as them and as the BRXL's.. they are an easy and cheap case to get ahold of is why you see 3 different companies using them.. although Castle Creations did have a hand in making the AE-2 for Axial.. but the internals are 100% not the same.

yes for sure. i decased both mine and removed the heatsink and they have no problems on either of my rigs. both weight 10lb+ and run 3s with HP motors. also they are waterproofed.

of mine? in both trucks I just have it wired as normal. BEC is hooked to battery lead, + wire from esc taken out, and everything is plugged into my RX as normal. my BEC powers my RX, which in turn powers my servo and lites.

I always run at LEAST 7v from my BEC, no matter what servo I have in there. from my experience most receivers and servos and such will easily take the 7v and work. makes for a much stronger servo too!!

AT YOUR OWN RISK

I could see that in a wraith. Maybe even had the pinion mesh a little tight. Wraiths don't like brushed motors from all I have seen.
But as far as the ae2's being weak, they are not. I religiously use becs on EVERY rig I own or have ever owned in the past. My 2wd slash even has a bec! Lol
Its the only insurance I have ever bought that has actually given something in return!

I've been running one for two years in my sporty without issue.

De-cased, heat sink removed, rewired with 16g wire, BEC set at 7.0v, running 3s Lipo.

Ran mine for almost 2 years on 2s most of which had no BEC, a mix of 27T Axial and 35T HH motors. Had a BEC (set 7.4) for about the last year and now just recently went to 3S and a 30T HH. It is starting to get a little rough when creeping but I won't be too sad when it goes. It has been through many packs with ambient temps over 100F. If it makes it through the next G6 I'll be happy.
