Cheap high torque servo I am looking for ~250-300 oz/in (18-22 kg/cm) servo to use in SCX10 crawler. Anybody have experience with non-brand servos like Mi, Blue Bird, HK etc under $50? 25T are preferred. |
Re: Cheap high torque servo Solar D772 but it's a 23T |
Re: Cheap high torque servo Was just going to suggest the above too.. Its a little larger than a standard servo by like 1mm and like stated above 23 spline. Im actually needing a new servo horn for mine bc I stripped the Aluminum one I had got from china. |
Re: Cheap high torque servo I don't have any luck with Hobbyking servo (their own brand) bought 4 and all are DOA (2 orange one and 2 red alu casing one). On the other hand, bought some (about 4-5) bluebird from hobbyking for various applications and they are all ok. But for 18-22kg, maybe you need to spend a bit more than $50. |
Not razzing.. but the title says it all... A cheap servo, is only a cheap servo now. Buy 4 20$ servos to get thru the year or buy one 80$ servo an lasts you 2 years.. which is cheaper? Personally I run hitec, have bought everyone of them used an I would rather fight my way out of a bind then reverse or repo my rig. I am not nice to my servos and it would be the Last place to skimp, IMO.. Plus it can be sent back to be fixed by hitec, which may cost 50$, if anything, 2 years down the road, but its like new when it comes back an you can start the abuse all over again.. that's cheap to me.. |
Re: Cheap high torque servo I've been down the cheap servo road, I know have Hitec 7954s or 7950s in all my rigs. Sucks when you out bashing or on a trail crawl and a burnt or stripped out servo ruins your day. |
Re: Cheap high torque servo I ordered 2 of the solar d772 servos I know they are cheap but will get my wraith build done and will give me some time to save up some fun money or a hitec that I want so ill just do that for now |
Re: Cheap high torque servo What would be a good high torque servo that's water proof? The last time I had a truck I bought the traxxas waterproof high torgue servos, they lasted about 5 batteries and then it went pop on a hard turn. |
Re: Cheap high torque servo Been using the bluebird bms35a as both steering and servo winch duties. No complaints so far "thumbsup" |

I personally haven't ever went that far an haven't had any problems. Then again, I don't play submarine with mine. Just in the rain, in puddles, streams or water tire high, an snow.. Open the case up an put some grease/petroleum around the output for the horn, it will keep the water from getting in that way.. |

Re: Cheap high torque servo Personally id buy a hitec first up like the others said, but i just saw this on sale from hobbyking BMS-2514 Coreless Digital Alloy Gear Servo - 25.5kg / 0.14s / 7.4V (High Voltage) |
Re: Cheap high torque servo winnerone23, after your post I seriously considered buying brand servo like Hitec. But then I spontaneously purchased Blue Bird BMS-28A. $63 delivered and listed 320 oz/in torque 0.12 sec/60 deg speed @ 6V. Will report my experience when it arrives. |
Yes please do report.. For another 10$ you coulda got 500oz @6v savox 1230... just sayin.. I'm a torque whore, my 1.9 has 7950 an my 2.2s an 2.2p have 7980's in them.. wraith, 7955 but might get backup 7980 and put the 7955 or 7954 in my scx instead of the hobbico cs-170 in it.. love the 4 sale section! all bought used for under 100$ a piece, down to 40$ for the cs170.. |
Re: Cheap high torque servo Shh! I missed that. Well, I am not going to cancel my order. Will wait for it and post about this servo here. |

Re: Cheap high torque servo Sorry, mistyping. Will stay with blue bird and see how it will go. |
Re: Cheap high torque servo I need to talk to Lloyd and Carl, apparently. My LHS stocks the 1231sg but for the same price, they should be stocking the 1230sg! I got robbed of 55.6 oz/in! :flipoff: :lmao: |
Re: Cheap high torque servo Actually, 111.2. I bought two! |
Re: Cheap high torque servo Ya i have both you can tell the speed deference between the two ill give up a little power for some speed. but both r still monsters |
