Default Scotchkote for waterproofing

I have looked through the waterproofing section and didn't see this listed anywhere. Has anybody used 3m scotchkote to waterproof their electronics? I would think it would do pretty good and be better than liquid tape. I did read a post on a different forum where one guy said it worked better than anything he had tried even corrosionx.

I hope it is I am going to give it a try. I am actually thinking about coating all the circuit boards and stuff with it then after it sets up dip it all in corrosionx a couple of times.

So, it looks like it's a type of liquid electrical tape. I haven't used it, but looks interesting. A quick search showed prices around $30 for a can.

I think it is from my understanding of it. From what I have found it is basically the same type stuff some companies use to waterproof/weatherproof circuit boards in marine radios, wp gps units and stuff like that.

I am guessing nobody on here has used it. I have some on the way and like I said in another post on here I also have corrosionx on the way. I am going to coat the boards with scotchkote then when it sets up I will dunk them in the corrosionx. That should have me double safe I would think. I just hate seeing servoes fry from water at 100+ each so I am going to try it on a cheap solar servo first along with my rx and bec. My esc is already wp from hh so I shouldn't have to worry about it.

I use a scotchkote variant for production work, good stuff. I prefer clear silicon types so failures can be seen. The consumer type 43906 is rubber with mek solvent, it will soften paint and markings on whatever you are treating. Make sure the item is CLEAN before you apply it, else it won't bond and water will seep between if there are holes. Use alcohol and a soft brush to clean the parts. Air dry, then apply.

Pretty much the same as liquid electrical tape.

So far so good with the way I did it. I took all my stuff apart put 2 coats of the scotchkote on every circuit board, servo rx bec and all. After it set up good I dunked all of it in corrosionx with a o-ring and marine grease behind the horn on the servo. I took it out this past weekend and ran it through through several creeks and alot of water trying to test it out and it never had a single issue. A friend of mine that did his with plasti dip marine grease and dielectric grease had issues with his servo about what would have been half way through the run but it started flooding on us so we all took the shortest route back since some of the guys weren't even water resistant and only one of us brought a rain suit.

I am doing the testing on a cheap solar servo but everything else is my normal stuff like futaba rx, ccbec, axial light controller, and my esc is a HH wp brxl.
