New to crawlers, but getting an SCX10. Need a servo..
 

I've only just started getting into RC this year and I Have a Slash 2wd, a Jato 3.3 and a Twin Hammers. Sadly I feel like I should not have bought the TH, but that is beside the point.

I plan to purchase an Axial Scx10 Rubicon kit(always loved jeeps) and I can figure out what tx/rx to get. I have an LRP SPinSuper Esc and DTX 2250kv sensored brushless to use but I don't know much of anything about Servos, really. I would prefer it be something not super expensive since I am just gettin into it, but not something too fragile either. Also if it was already waterproof, that would be a plus. Thanks for any suggestions in advance.

first of stay away from any Traxxas servos they all suck water proof or not. get the best servo you can afford 200oz of torque or better, BUY ONCE and be done.

as for water proof servos most are weak, around 130 to 150 oz of torque, you can easily waterproof one your self, my 16 year old does it all the time. look for a good Hitech servo. check out servocity.com they always have good deals going on.

Check out savox new waterproof stuff, I'm a hitec guy but have owned savox before and had zero issues, the biggest waterproof one they currently have I think is the sw-1210, 277tq @ 6v...
Don't know anything about the waterproof ones cause I have no use for one, but... Just something to consider or do some research on!

I use a Hitec HS-7954SH servo in my Honcho. It has 333oz of torque @ 6V and 403oz @ 7.4V. You can find them online in the $75 to $80 price range.

Its not guaranteed to be water proof, but Hitec servos do well in wet environments due to the o-rings used in the design.

Thanks for the replies, I guess I can waterproof it if I need to. And I notice the servo in my slash is pretty meh so I knew not to get one of those. :)

x2 on checking out the Savox. If you do need to waterproof it, go on youtube, lots of great tutorials. I used djmedics method and it worked great. Marine grease on the inside, plastidip on the outside and you're ready to go after it dries."thumbsup"

I like his channel, sorta what made me want to try out a crawler. That, and I like the "scale" side of it.

I just put a Hitec 7955TG in mine, love it so far. All my short course trucks have Savox 1258TGs, but with Savox I always need a large cap and external BEC to solve brownouts.
