Default New Hobbywing BRUSHED esc?

I saw this last night on ebay, looks promising:
1 10 RC Car Hobbywing EZRUN 180A 1040 Waterproof Brushed Motor Programmable ESC | eBay

Quote:
Product Description:Specifications:

FWD Cont. / Burst Current : 40A / 180A
BWD Cont. / Burst Current: 20A / 90A
Input: 2-3S Lipo, 5-9 Cells NiMH/NiCd
Cars Applicable: 1:10 on-road, off-road Buggy, SCT, Truggy, Crawler, Tank & Boat
Motor Limit:
2 Lipo or 6 NiMH: 540 or 550 size motor ≥ 12T, RPM < 30000 @ 7.2V
3 Lipo or 9 NiMH: 540 or 550 size motor ≥ 18T, RPM < 20000 @ 7.2V
Resistance: FWD: 0.002 Ohm; BWD:0.004 Ohm
Built-in BEC: 2A/5V (Linear mode BEC)
PWM Frequency: 1KHz
Now the way I read that, it says it will do 3S. That would be perfect for my needs, or darn close to it.....spec descritions seem a bit sketchy....
Same turn ratings for 540 and 550 just does not seem right to me......

My needs:
able to be used in my clodbuster
waterproof/dustproof
3S capable
able to run a pair of 27t silver cans wired in parellel
(yes, I realize that equals a few turns less than 1

However, I have a few concerns:
I don't like the 50% power in reverse.
It says programmable, but not what (see above).
No mention of a program card that works with it.
A molex connector on a 3S capable esc? I know it can be (and would be) changed...but really?....
No mention of this esc ANYWHERE else that I can find.
So it's either new.....or a knock-off?

There were 4 available, I see they are all sold out now.

Anyone know or heard anything about these?

Believe the esc you found is also rebranded as the RC4WD outcry.

Also, no listing for:

Instant reverse
Drag brake

Both are good things to have in a crawler, especially if you will comp. Messing around is something else.

And yes, I would cut off those connectors and replace them all.

Yup, change up those batt connectors for sure. They do look a bit short. AND if you got the same shitty soldering skills as me then you know that it takes a few cuts to get it right!

This...

A double pump required for reverse just plain sucks for crawling. And hopefully the drag is programmable. For one guy, 60% drag may be perfect whereas for someone else it may be too much or not enough.

If these needs could be met, may be a nice lil throwaway controller.

Thank you all for the replies. I almost bought one when I saw it originally, but hesitated. I think..... I'm glad I did.

My current esc is a MMP, but I'm thinking about using it in something else, and I only need 3S in this truck anyways.

My clod is set up as a basher monster truck, not a crawler, although it does decent on trails and such, despite it's open diffs. It's also my best snow-runner. I've built quite a few clods. This is my latest one, trying to see just how far I can push the limits of the stock chassis.
....and none of these shots are posed.

I'll give it a go later...but this ESC has nothing to do with Hobbywing. Doesn't exist on their page and there's no mention on the instructions...

Confirmed, tried the standard programmer, the USB dongle and the professional programming box and none works with this ESC. stay away from this. The throttle range is calibrated everytime you turn the ESC on(hate that). the power delivery is weak, reverse is unpredictable, not smooth and it's limited to 50% so you can't climb anything significant backwards

I don't know how long Hobbywing launched the new version of that ESC. Now it's called de WP-1060-Brushed and has better specs.

HOBBYWING TECHNOLOGY CO., LTD.

Waterproof
60A/360A
3A/5V BEC
2-4S Lipo or 5-12 NiMH
Running modes: Forward/Reverse/Brake, Forward/Brake, Forward/Reverse

I think for 20-25$, it's a great deal(atleast on paper). On our group, we ordered 3 of them. Let's see how they are

Well, the dragbrake seems to work:

the quicrun 1060 is quite nice, not 4s though, pretty basic programming so you'll want something else if you just have to have the exact right amount of drag brake and are fine spending 3x for something programmable and waterproof. otherwise it's an epic deal, holds up to 3s and motor melting abuse on a heavy cold roled steel rod scorpion mk1 chassis.

Mine is holding just fine. we just couldn't get the dragbrake to work. In the normal mode (FWD/reverse/brake) I have to push the trigger all the way to reverse to brake. We use the third mode, direct forward and reverse. Not a smooth dragbrake but works

the new axial ae-5 waterproof brushed esc's are a rebranded quicrun wp-1060-brushed, 3s ready, with the selectable operating modes sport:fwd/brk/rev - race:fwd/brk - and crawl direct fwd/rev 100% drag deleted in favor of a 2 stage adjustable drag brake, %50 or %100 depending on jumper position.

The bonus is if you just have to have axial sticker and a drag brake setting you likely will leave at %100 permanently it will only set you back $35 for the ae-5 versus the more flexible quicrun wp-1060 (at $25 it becomes highly viable and reasonably priced option for getting older brushed stuff or really any brushed car you need an esc for back up and running, with bonus of being waterproof and lipo ready)
