You need to decase your electronics and spray/paint it directly on the electronics boards... not the outer plastic cases.

I'm not sure I'd say that it wasn't made for electronics. Only that the company that mass produces it doesn't want to be held liable for any failures. The original video from the developers showed them using it on electronics.

I wasn't aware that the product that Ross developed was found to have the exact same formulation as the consumer version that Rust-Oleum sells. If so then that's pretty cool. Has the liability issue been confirmed or is that an assumption? Is there a product to remove NeverWet for when you want to solder like the conformal coating remover? NeverWet does seem like a product with lots of potential but I personally would rather use a product marketed (and used by the OEM) for waterproofing electronics when I'm dunking $300 worth of electronics and potentially ending a comp weekend.

It does dry clear and I read that there is a remover.

Thanks for all the info guys, but I have a question for you. What is the differnce between Conformal coatings?

The spray: Tech Spray 2108-12S: TechSpray Turbo-Coat Acrylic Conformal Coating, 12-oz is an Acrylic

The brush on: MG Chemicals 4223 Conformal Coating Urathane with UV Indicator | eBay is a Urathane and I've seen Silicone ones as well.

The brush on seems to be the easiest to apply and it's cheaper.

ps I love seeing my pics for ECSC everywhere...

I do. But I dont take those swimming either.

And I must retract my previous statement. My 2.2pro comp rig ended up in a lake almost a year ago to this day....

That was not a very fun evening but could have been worse.

looking at youtube reviews of this stuff shows that if the top coat gets rubbed off 9even with cloth baby diaper) it loses it's water replleing abilities.

I still think a dunk in a can of plastidip will be a better, longer lasting alternative. Dunking of an esc would be less messy than spray canning it.

***Eidt***

I found an even better way to do it!

Its made to lay flat and not build thick like normal conformals. The binder also lowers the operating temp vs regular silicones or epoxy types.

Probably coats just fine, but the paint binder screws up long term reliable electronics use. For the money, there are plenty of other options better suited.

I prefer, "MG Chemicals 422B Silicone Conformal Coating" anyone interested can do a quick search for this or similar product. This company also has an acrylic if that is more ones preference. I have personally had flawless results with both.

You that use Conformal Coating or Plasti Dip, how do they cure?

I've been using latex, and that needs air to cure. Only thin layers can be applied, or the inside will stay liquid and electrically conductive!

I want something that can be allowed into dips and crevices and still cure.
