Default Mamba Max 5700, can it be used for crawler?

I have an old mamba max 5700, would this be a decent motor/esc for a crawler?

You could use it as a weight if you bolted to the front bumper. But that is about the only place that motor should be on a crawler. If you have a Mamba Max esc, they are great with a brushed motor. Just use a BEC.

Nah I say try it. It's fast as heck and not sensored. Perfect for a crawler.

Will setting the drag to full, which in the manual says is %50 drag brake how the truck when descending steep slopes?

Is it just way too much power and I should use a high turn brushed motor?

Is it generally not a good ESC for crawling?

My hobby shop was trying to tell me I needed a true crawler designed ESC.

The mamba Max Pro is a great ESC for crawler (as for almost all of the castle car ESC). It can be set to run brushed motor using the castle link. The max drag brake for castle is 213% which is just about as good as it get, well almost. The only draw back of MMP is its size and weight.

If you really want to use brushless motor, get a sensored one and at least 17.5 turn and above, gear it right down and you should be fine for scaler, not sure about the drag brake for brushless thou.

It has nothing to do with power. There are crawler motors with more power than that. It about the low speed resolution. That motor can't operate smoothly at low rpm.

What castle manual says that the max drag brake is 50%? I have never seen that before.

I ran a Mamba max and 5700kv on 3 cell lipo in my old campbell buggy. It was really fun to jump, broke parts every time I drove it and basically needed to be push started. But man did it jump sweet!

If you do use one, don't plan on crawling or going slower then 5-10 MPH and be sure to turn the drag brake off. Things like this happen if you don't.
