| Turnigy Servo I just got mine in the mail. Anyone else ever used these yet? Seems like a pretty good deal. I'll be putting it through the ringer in the next couple of days and I will let you know what I think. Last edited by Super; 07-02-2013 at 01:39 PM. |

Is the whole body alum? or some metal? What are the specs?

This is from the web site... Milled from a single block of 6061 alloy*, this servo screams "crazy tough"! The milled alloy MG959 V2 carries as much attitude as it does torque and robustness. Why did we bother making a CNC milled 6061 alloy servo and then charge this crazy low price for it?... Beause we can! No amount of R/C truck bashing or plane crashes will distort this servo's case. It includes accessories and has dual ball bearings and metal gearing. TGY-MG959 V2 spec. Control system: +pulse width control 1520usec neutral Required pulse: 3-5V peak to peak square wave Operating voltage: 4.8v~6v Operating temperature range: -20~+60C Operating speed (4.8v): 0.19sec / 60 degree at no load Operating speed (6.0v): 0.17sec / 60 degree at no load Stall torque @ 4.8V: 18.0kg.cm Stall torque @ 6.0V: 20.0kg.cm Operating angle: 45 deg. one side pulse travelling 400usec Direction: Counter clockwise/pulse travelling 1520-1900usec Motor type: Coreless motor Potentiometer drive: Indirect drive Bearing type: Dual ball bearing Gear type: All metal gears Connector wire length: 12in Dimensions: 40.2 x 20.1 x 36.8mm Weight: 2.64oz. (78g) *Not soft extruded alloy that is later finished to look like it was milled from a billet. (common practice by Align & other helicopter, servo and car factories that make "CNC" alloy parts) If I did the conversion right it comes out to 277 in.oz. tq Oh yeah, they're $30.00 a piece at Hobby King. If they would make one like this but with about 500oz/in at 6v, I'd be all over it! Oh also water proof, that would just make it that much better. Last edited by Exocaged; 07-03-2013 at 12:28 PM. |

Stall torque 278 oz-inch @ 6V (nominal battery voltage, so about 7V actual voltage) isn't bad, if true. I've only experienced problems with servos considerably weaker than that. |

I went out today and gave it a 3 hour run and I was really happy with the way it worked. My trail running is more rock crawling than just trails, so it gets a work out. Smooth and kinda quiet, a little buzzing but not too bad. As of right now I am happy with it. I will keep updating as I use it more.

Sounds and looks nice, but out of stock at the moment as per HK's site, will keep my eye on this one. Good power for scaler too, but more would be nice for my Wraith. Anybody know what servo horn spline it uses? Turnigy MG959 V2 Alloy Digital Metal Gear Servo 20kg / 78g / 0.17sec |

Well I've put about 25 hours of trail time on this servo now and there was never a lack of power, never got hot. I would not hesitate to buy another one! |

By the way my k3 winch is doing great.... Had an issue about ten mins in with motor wind snapping and taking out the brushes..... Swapped in 645 motor and was back in biz..... Not sure if was luck of the draw or 12 volt directly to servo? Works now tho! Last edited by JokersWild; 07-14-2013 at 09:49 PM.

Most of these new servos,,ie cys ,tp trunigy,,, I have found that the Hitec servo gears fit in them and so that means you can be upgraded to better metal servo gears,,The servo that iam using for my freespool winch is a CYS S8201 HV ,,the thing is so powerfull just like a hitec 7955 but has brass & aluminum gears ,Sorry didnt mean to hack your thread just venting here ,,Robert,,

Still going strong after over 30 hours of crawling. I'm glad I found these might have to get some more. |

Just got these in the mail and it looks to be a beefy servo. The case is definitely milled which is amazing for something at this price. Each of the case sections are milled separately as all the machining marks are different. Looking forward to putting this on my rig. I had pulled my 7980 from my summit temporarily to run in my scx. When I saw these I thought I would get 2 to put back into the summit and keep the 7980 on the scx. After trying these out on the bench with 6.0v, I think I could get away with just one servo on the summit. Holy torque!! Curious to see how it is on 7.4v. |
