| Which batteries?
Im looking at a few different battery packs but i cant seem to choose one. At rcmart.com you can get a 6 cell Intellect 3800 pack for $29.90 and all kinds of other crazy deals but i dont know what will be the best balance of power and run time. Can anyone help me decide which batteries to get??? BTW im planning on running 2 integy 65 or 75t lathes |

Ditch the sub-C packs and go lipo.

i wanna keep the sub c cells cuz i already have a charger for them, so besides lipos what should i use, and another question is, will steering servos and motors short out or anything if they get wet?

subc are good choice plenty of runtime and if properly placed, added traction. As for waterproofing: wrap your ESC and receiver in ballons to protect them from water, and use a watterproof servo. the motor if it a lathe should have a problem with water, just remeber to clean it out and lube the bearings/bushings after.

It's a DC motor. As long as you do some maintenance afterwards it'll be fine. Several folks break in sealed endbell stockers by running them underwater. Servos are fairly resistant to water intrusion.

Not to hyjack another mans thread, I feel my question is right in line. Are most guys buying prebuilt packs of sub c or are they building their own? Is six cells per pack standard? Are deans connectors used? As fr as recharging, is six amps the standard? Is discharging and cycling required? Do you repeak before each run? RYY |

NiMH do not require cycling.... never hurts but NOT required, I use deans whenever there is going to be high draw. I like to repeak mine but if your not racing is not necessary. I charge about 5 amp or so

when i quick charge i use 4 amps but for normal charging when not in a hurry i only charge at 1amp. on a 4200 it takes a while but it gives a much better charge and is easier on the batteries

Form my experience on my clod, a 7 cell offset brick 4/5A pack works the best besides lipo. I have access to any kind of RC battery known to man, so I get lots of time to experiment. I just ziptie the pack I described to my front diff on the top of the axle and it works great. Heres a pic: |

We don't have a high amp draw in a crawler, so even an old 1500 will work...pretty much any battery (not all ) that has some sort of capacity will power a crawler. I tend to stick to Sub-C cells. I outlined why here: What size cells?
