Default BEC MMP/Pro4?

I'm putting this combo(CCbec,Mamba Max Pro,Tekin Pro4) in my Wraith and thought I saw somewhere that said not to remove the esc red wire to Rx. Been into RCs for a while and want to make sure before frying something. Can anyone running this setup answer this because it makes no sense to me.

Depends on your setup. Some use the bec to power an hv servo directly, using the esc to power the rx. While others are fine with a 6v servo, using the bec to power both the servo and rx... requiring the red wire from the esc to be pulled.

The idea is that you don't want any devices powered from 2 different sources.

I knew you could run the bec directly to the servo, but I'm going to power the Rx with it. So I'll disconnect the red wire like I thought, just wanted to make sure there wasn't something specific about this combo I didn't know about. Thanks Meatwad.

I prefer to have my ESC feed the Rx and have the servo separated.
The whole idea of having a separate BEC is to prevent trouble with the Rx and ESC, so keeping them separated does just that.

(Last week there was a guy on another forum that had trouble with the Rx when his CCBEC-fed Savöx servo was working hard. My advice to let the ESC feed the Rx fixed the problem.)

Thanks Olle P, I'll keep that in mind.

+1...

Everyone else, keep in mind, some RX's will burn up traces on the PC board if you run high voltage & high amps through them. Thus, I also run my external BEC direct to the servo and let the ESC BEC feed the RX.
Also, when running the external BEC direct to the servo, some radios will glitch UNLESS you tie all the grounds together. Seems Spektrum is prone to this, others may as well.

Thanks Charlie I think you just described my problem when I tried the BEC to servo thing. When I would go forward the rear steer servo would steer a bit. let up on the forward and it would go back. never glitched in reverse though. I am now on a 3pl with the r2004gf rx so I may try it again just to see if the same issue is there.

That is a good point as well... Star grounding at the rx is a good practice no matter the radio. Especially when running multiple bec's/esc's.

I run my steering servo directly off 2S and the RX8 BEC powers the receiver/winch/stock lights.

But then you are stuck running two batteries.

You are missing out on so much. My pro4 3300 has been running strong on 4s for some time.
