Default Nicd batt question

Hey guys,

So I just got my TAZR multi charger in today, I have some old RC car that I have NICD batteries for, had the car/batteries for a few years now, (5+) haven't used in three or so, when I plug in the batteries and set to auto charge for NICD on the RE 6000 battery I get a SHORT ERR and on the other battery (dont remember what it is) it says CONNECTION BREAK, I checked over all the connections I could see, solder joints look good, do batteries just go bad over time? or am I doing somthing wrong? been a while since ive played with RC, just getting ready to get a Wraith so figured I would play with my street car for a bit while I waited for UPS to show up

Thanks!

All batteries degrade over time. Nicads are worse than Nimh which are in turn worse than Lipo. In all probability, the nicads are shot, they were never all that good, and after 3 years left to their own devices, they're likely to be dead. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news :(

Invest, move on. Climb stuff

Well said, just get some lipos and just roll on.....

Just fyi I have ran all of these types of batteries back when they were top. NiCd were never all that good. Had a self discharge rate of around 10% and only lasted 2000 cycles before ending life.

I'm surprised you were even able to find nicad packs that recently. Make sure you take them to the recycler.
