Default Motor temp question

This is an older project of mine. Nitro stampede to electric. The lowest I can possibly gear down to is a 15t pinion. That's with the motor virtually on the trans case. This is purely a basher bomb around the yard and have fun truck. With a mamba max pro esc and 3500kv velenion motor the motor is geared way too high for grass and ramping. Runs 35 mph on the road and that's way too much. My question is if I get a severely lower kv motor will the temps go down as well as the speed? Speed I can def afford to lose here. Short answer, yes.

Can you fit a bigger spur? Much cheaper than a new motor.

That's the biggest spur possible. It's a **** hair from bing right on the driveshaft. I'm about to buy a 2230kv motor right now. Thinking that'll be a lot better
