A few design changes, nothing major, the master cylinder will run longways with the servo and the teeth on the rack will be shifted to one side to make the cylinder fit the shape of the servo to take up less room, also the mounts for the axle will be in a bta setup as aposed to in the front.

Well I finally got my cylinders today!! The bad part is I left them at work so no pictures. I would tell you were I got them but I don't even know, I just told one of the engineers at work what I wanted and he ordered it for me. I will ask him tommorrow, I can say that they are sweet looking, shinny aluminum, but I think they are going to be too long. I ordered 1.5" stroke but I think I will send them back for some 1" stroke ones. As far as serching for them, I guess I can let the cat out of the bag, they are not hydrolic cylinders, they are air cylinders. But I have been reasured that they will work with glycerin just fine. If they can hold something as thin as air they will hold liquid. Pics tommorow I promise!!! |

Sweet. 1.5" stroke is a good bit...you'll have plenty of travel I think the ones I used to get full travel with the stock bump stops on the knuckles had a 25mm stroke. |

Yeah, I'm definatly going to get the 1" stroke, The cylinder is double ended and the ends are almost as long as a clod tierod so there would be no room for rod ends with the cylinders I got today. They look good on the axle though, there about as big around as a AA battery.

I've got an easy way to mount the cylinders that you'll be using on the axles. Attach a sheet of alum to the axle between the knuckles. Attach one end of the cylinder to the top of the knuckle, then move the knuckle to its steering limit when the cylinder is extended. Make sure the cylinder is extended and put a Sharpie through the eye of the cylinder at the axle end. Swing the cylinder in an arc while keeping the knuckle at full travel and the cylinder at full extension. Then move the knuckle in, retract the cylinder, and draw another arc. The intersection of the two arcs will be the mounting point for the axle end of the cylinder. Then repeat the process for the other side. No measurements...no headaches. They look pretty wide for a 10th scale truck. How does it compare to your truck?

The idea is sound I think the hadest part is gona be the R&P set-up. If U can get the mesh right, and have a good mounting sys. to keep the mesh right................. If U can work it out I'd be interested in a sys. for my truck |
