+1. Then shrink tube the connection or wrap in electrical tape to prevent shorts.

I cut mine down to 1/8" or 3/16" from the board, twist together with tweezers, hit with solder, then a dab of liquid electrical or leave be an shrink wrap the esc up. Or put case back on.

I desolder the wires from the board and bridge the contacts with a tiny bit of solder. No heat shrink/tape required and it looks a hell of a lot cleaner. Not to mention the little bit of weight savings.

While I agree, not everyone has an iron capable of handling lead free solder.
Frankly, I prefer to recommend the "safe way" for most, but you are correct, a bridge at the board is best.

That's not needed either, you can't short it out with it. You can just leave it laying around and nothing would happen.

Mostly because Saydee must have been hit repeatedly with that brick upside his head already...

Not all irons get hot enough to deal with lead free solder well. I didn't worry about it until I started to do more work on newer ESC's & LiPO packs, that's when I hit the limitations of my old pencil iron and bought a digital one.

What temp do you use for work like this? I'll have to check what I have mine set on.
