There are tons of threads on "waterproofing", just do a quick search and there should be plenty of info to keep you busy reading.

I don't waterproof my stuff since I don't go near the water, but I've heard alot of people use diff things.

A quick search and I found this:

Water Proofing Electronics

I'm sure there is alot more info that what I'm sharing, but like I said I'm not one to waterproof my stuff so I'm sure some others will chime in, maybe that link above will help you out some!

i just tried my idea and it WORKS

buy a 1L tin of any Automotive CLEAR acrylic paint.

dip item that needs to be protected, raise, let drip off, then re-dip making sure any air bubbles are gone. lift out, let drip mostly off, then hang up to dry. 2hours later, BAM> Waterproof.

I did a couple ESCs, a couple 2.4ghz Rx's an Axial light controller, and tested it all SUBMERGED. perfect waterproofing.

That and liquid tape, there are situations where one may not work but the other will. For instance liquid taping over the ends of lipo packs, ccbec and cheapie winch controllers... Everything else gets conformal coated.

I would like an update on this "perfect waterproofing" in say 6 months.
Your technique works now but will it cause the board mounted components to fail prematurely? Only time will tell.

That's a good question.. I was under the impression that acrylic paint was somehow electrically conductive but after a couple searches, nothing immediately popped up. Time will tell.

Indeed, I am not trying to say it wont or does not work, I honestly would like an update after 6 months to a year.
That info is needed to confirm how well this technique works.

as far as electrically conductive. it is definitely not. i tested one of the ESCs while the paint was still dripping. and as far as causing issues with corrosion, dont you think that clear coated steel would rust/corrode ?? but it doesnt.

i will give it time as you said, but im 99% sure that they will be fine. think about what axial use on the AE2 when they waterproof it, its just a clear resin on the circuit boards. which is pretty much what acrylic paint is.
