Simple sidewinder and CC BEC setup...gone awry?
 

I've setup my Associated Sc10b to run the Castle Sidewinder SV2 1410 3800kv combo with a Savox 1256 servo and an external Castle BEC set at 7.4V.

It ran fine with no issues for a few packs. Then I ran it again a few days later without changing anything besides putting on a 3s lipo for a little speed run.

Immediately the electronics acted strangely. I was only getting intermittent throttle and tons of cogging off the line and even once it got going it was only running at about 20% slower than if I had put in a 2s lipo.

I reset all my settings to default via my CastleLink and tried various firm wares and it did not solve the issue. I tried recalibrating the ESC and TX several times and still did not solve the issue.

I then unplugged the Castle Bec and it ran fine!!

Can someone explain what's going on? All my packs are 40c and up so lipos are not the issue in fact I tried 3 different brands and same problem with the cogging and intermittent wide open throttle.

Now with any power hungry servo everyone knows a Castle BEC is a must so I can't run this setup without one.

This is the first Savox servo I've used and its only been causing problems.

I have at least 6 sidewinders with a castle BEC soldered all the same way and all set at 7.4v but I run Hitec 7955's and up never an issue!

Try unplugging the servo and see what happens, it may be dieing.

The servo is brand new and I've set the BEC back to 6.0v just to check as savox safely recommends 6.0v. I could just throw a glitch buster in there and call it a day but other people have been saying savox and glitch busters are a recipe for disaster.

Originally before I put in the cc BEC I ran a spare glitch buster I had any it had no issues except when in reverse the front tires would fishtail lol. Once the BEC was in that went away and when I put it at 7.4v it never got hotter than low 90*

I just don't understand how if the only thing different I did was try running a 3s and then the esc goes into weird glitchyness and the motor starts cogging.

X2 any hv savox I've used gave me all kinds of issues...... Also I don't hook any of bec s up that way.... Always straight to servo even on my go fast rigs.

Well I turned down the sensorless motor timing from the default 10 setting to no timing and the cogging did go away slightly. Now it's drive able but still not where it used to be when I was running a glitch buster with that savox. The intermittent wide open throttle went away too.

How does this have anything to do with motor timing?

This is why I hate savox. Hahaha...but I've heard good things with them on the on road TC classes. Maybe not so great on the go fast buggy side...

Piggybacking so we don't create too many threads...hope someone notices because I'm stumped!!

Running a Savox 0251WP with Sidewinder 3, CC BEC and SR301. All came waterproof except the BEC and the SR301 is "splash proof" so I dipped the BEC and SR301 in plasti dip for safety's sake.

All ran well until yesterday, the fateful day of failure. The only thing I changed yesterday was hot wiring the on/off switch as it stopped being cooperative as it was so I cut it and spun them together....all good right?

The truck was driving fine, then it stopped working and just started beeping sporadically along with servo glitching and motor jumping, none of this had any rhyme or reason as it's completely unrelated to anything I was doing with the transmitter.

As it sits;
Sidewinder is flashing orange and occasionally tosses in a red light now and then when it kicks the motor for a second.
BEC is just sitting there looking like a BEC....admittedly it could have gotten wet...but it always could be getting wet as I constantly drive in water. I followed Castles wiring diagram perfectly.
SR301 has a strobing green light, very fast stribing like its wanting to bind(but no bind plug is installed)
Savox is unplugged.
Transmitter is a DX2E and it seems to be fine as well, all trims zero'd.

What I've done;
Tried calibrating multiple times, no luck.
Tried zero'ing the throttle multiple times, no luck.
Tried binding multiple times, seemingly no luck.
Went into the software and set the deadband to maximum, no luck.
Went thru all the wires and nothing is loose or remotely questionable.
Set in front of the fan to let it hopefully dry and solve the issue....pending luck.

Any ideas? Open to any and all options as its a beautiful day outside and I want to go trailing before the snow hits!

And the fan gave me some luck...still acting strange but nothing I can't figure out from here. Good to go!
