Default KV question

I have a Tekin RS GEN2 ESC and am looking to match it with a Tekin crawling motor. My noob like question is there are four of them, 3100KV, 2300KV, 1800KV and 1200KV. What is the difference and which is best for backyard crawling and a little trailing? The Tekin website really didn't explain the difference. Thanks (yes I have a hotwire and it will be running on 3s)

Sickie??...you mean "stickie"??

KV is the RPM the motor will run on a volt of power.

A 3100KV motor will spin ~twice as fast as a 1800KV motor. Faster spin means lower torque, sorta the opposite for brushed motors where a lower turn gives a faster spin.
Hi KV motors are more for on-road cars, low KV is more for crawling or high torque applications.
Volts applied (1S vs. 2S vs. 3S) also changes the speed. A 1800KV motor that is too slow on 2S may be great on 3S.

Sensored vs. unsensored have an affect on low speed control.
The number of poles in the motor also affect the motor speed and torque.

There is no "real good" cross reference between a brushed "T" vs. a brushless "KV", there are only close approximations.

I'd say go with the 1800kv. You can always go to 3s to add more speed if you need it.

Sorry... yes I meant "stickie". Forget one "t". It's Saturday with no Grandkids and papa's been drinking. Thanks for the response.

I say the 3100. You can always gear it down, crawls great on 2S, plays great on 3S.

I'd go with 1800 or 2300, depending on what rig you have. Then up the voltage as/if needed.

3100 seems too much at the low end. (Minimum speed too high.)
