When you charge lipos, stay with them.

If you damage a lipo you'll find out when charging them.

I've seen on either RC Groups or RCU where a guy was charging a lipo on the island in his kitchen and left the house.

Came home and the fire dept. was there.

$30,000 in damage to the house.

Another one I remember was a guy that had a lipo laying in the passenger seat of his car while at work.

He heard someone's car was burning in the lot, turned out to be his.

Being somewhat of a Helli guy myself I have seen a lot about Lipos. The posted vid here shows just how violently they can explode. This explosion however isn't the norm for a lipo unless that battery is a single cell. They normally explode one cell at a time which makes it even worse. It should also be noted that they do not have to be on a charger to explode. A shorted out Lipo can explode 10-15 minutes after the short takes place. Many people build in home charging areas out of cinder blocks and such, there are vids of this on one helli site but I can't remember which one As a side note the AMA and many aeronautic clubs have very strict rules on Lipo use. Some do not allow Lipos at all, some don't allow them in events open to the public and so on. The bottom line is that Lipos demand both respect and attention.

PS. Just noticed Run2's vid post. This is a typical Lipo explosion. Note when the second cell explodes.

I watched one fail in a scale plane while in flight.......a pretty sad sight.......a place falling from the sky in a ball of flame and smoke.

I ahd my cell phone lipo go off in my pocket. a dime got into the charging port....got really warm and then melted the case......had a burn on my thigh for a week or 2
