Default External Bec/Battery pack help

So I just swapped out my axial tx and RX for a dx3r and a sr300. When I turned all the way each way it'd shut down and reboot so I had an idea instead of an external bec. I hooked up a nicd 7.2v battery pack in the bind port with an on/off switch. According to the spektrum manual the sr300 can handle anywhere from 3.9v to 15v. I checked the voltage from the ESC to the receiver and it was at 5v. So what ive done is hooked up the 7.2 and the 5.0 and i have no problems when i have the battery pack turned on on also. And i just got done running it for 45 minutes on a 3s with the pack on. So just to run it through all of you to make sure there's no long term effects that I'm not aware of.

If you're going to keep the external battery plugged into the RX, I would remove the red wire from the ESC to the RX, otherwise you'll have 2 power sources feeding the RX which is likely to cause issues.

So your saying solely run on the battery pack by disabling the red wire coming off the esc? Its a venom 1200 7.2v by the way.

If it fixes your issue, then yes, use an external battery to power the RX instead of the ESC internal BEC.

Do not cut the ESC to RX red wire, just remove it from the RX connector and tape it off.
