| 645MG servo winch.... Has no holding function?
I have built 4 HS645MG servo winches, all using the robotic electronic board method. The centering pot is removed completely and a non-centering signal circuit board is used in place of the OEM circuit board. The only complaint I have with using this servo winch, is when the switch is placed into neutral on my radio, if there is any kind of weight or load, the servo just un-spools it's line. Does anyone know of a fix for this? A radio setting I'm not finding? I run a 4PL (older model).

I'm not a "scaler guru", but I would suggest (before others that may reply) is you contact "HeyOK" for his controllers. They seem to fix many "OEM issues" for various concerns.

X2 on going to al @ heyok. Get the 4 amp controller.... Dump the board and the pot and be done. Also if you're limited for space or want a better set up than the single sheer spool go talk to Robert at kms. Not only can you get the heyok from him also but he has k1 k2 and k3 style winches including 2 New ones with a freespool option! I have kms and heyok and wouldn't do it any other way. Great products..... No issues and awesome costomer service and help. |

x3 You should get a controller. A controller will help will the spooling problem by enabling drag brake. I have also seen people use esc's as controllers but heyok seems to be the most popular. I am also no expert hopefully a pro wincher hops into the conversation/ |

I was not aware that the heyok controller was capable of doing what I'm after (holding, dragging, etc.) I thought it was just to make a 2 position switch into a 3 position. Thanks for the info!

How well this braking works depends a lot on the motor and drive train. You can simulate the holding power by unplugging your winch, hang a weight from it and then short the motor wires together. | |
