Default Servo glitch

Ahoy!

My buddy is having an issue with his new electronics setup in his wraith. We are both still very new to this whole thing and are still learning.

His setup we are trying to get to work is:

HS-7950TH Servo

Mamba Max Pro

Spectrum receiver

The servo when plopped into my AE-2 esc no BEC or anything works perfectly. Put it into his setup and this servo constantly twitches and the throttle starts to to jump in and out every few seconds. Thought it may be something to do with the internal bec on the MMP so we used castle link and set it to 6.0 and it still does the same thing. Didn't dig around to much with castle link because I still don't know what some of it even is and figured I would check with you all first to see if its something silly/stupid we are both not seeing. He has another older savox servo and when we plug it in it works perfectly fine. Anyone have a clue as to what we are seeing here?

Cheers,
Dick

Yes, you need an external BEC!
Install one and should be fine after.

Yup. Spend $20 on a BEC and your problem will be solved.

Alright, so an external BEC is the next step for him for sure then.

Why would his setup require it and mine not though? I guess I can't really say mine definitively would never need a bec for it as I am sure I would likely run into some problems, but we saw no immediate issues or problems. Is it just that the MMP is so vastly different than the AE-2 in regards to power consumption and such, is it coming from the motor he is using, or is it both? Sorry for the stupid questions, just curious and trying to get my learn on and understand the why of the whole situation.

Thanks for the input!

Dick

I agree it's odd your set-up is fine & his is not.

As mentioned, the 7950 is a bit power hungry, thus needs a BEC.

As to the rig differences, What batteries are each using (chemistry, cell count/voltage, "C" rating, etc.) as well as what pack connectors?

What tires on each rig?

Did you go through the ESC to RX calibration on his rig?

Are you both running Spektrum radios?

Same battery used for both tests. Venom 5000 Mah 2s 7.4v 30c lipo with deans plugs.

My setup is using a AE-2, axial 55t brushed motor, and stock receiver/radio.

His setup is the MMP, tekin pro 4 brushless, and a Specktrum DX3c with the SR300 waterproof receiver.

We did the calibration with his rx fresh out of the box before we started messing with castle link. The glitching begins immediately after arming. We have to put it on a stand because it will start to jump if its tires down. My initial thought is the tekin being the major difference between the rigs that would make him need the bec over mine.
