| Hot esc
I hate deals with electronics. I believe it's my down fall in rc. My problem is my stock axial esc is running hot with stock everything. Not sure what could be going on. There is no binding anywhere. Thanks for the help guys!

Change your pinion gear to a lower tooth gear. Try a 16 or 14. I run 14's or 12's with 35 turn motors. No heat problems at all.

If your stuff is "stock"...Say from a RTR....what is hot ??? If you bought a Ready To Run....there might be something else wrong...like a bad ESC... Again.......what is "hot" ??? Hot to the touch, have you thrown a temp gun at it ? As Raceeng18 mentioned the gearing might be off, but unusual if it's not "your set-up" and a bought RTR |

| Re: Hot esc You need to provide a few more details such as which vehicle you have, your current gearing and how many turns your motor has.

The heat sink is extremely hot to the touch. It is an axial scx 10 second gen electronics. And the gearing is stock and its a 27t

I would start with a 14t pinion and then check the temps. The RTR comes with gearing that is too high and tends to cause overheating.

Explain your full setup, conditions (I.e. running through tall grass, flat pavement, etc), all the SCX details (tire size, any mods) and how long it is before it is hot. With this info, there is an amazing amount of experience here, so if I don't know the answer, or the next person, someone will! Details and information is your friend and your best step for a good solution. | |

I think the AE-2 likes to run hot. Plastidipped mine, run about a 20t motor on 3s, and when i want to be crazy, a 4s

Watch those mip's dude. I've had plenty of those things be the un-doing of rigs. They'll feel fine when your spinning stuff by hand, but once you get out there, they'll start their voodoo!

I agree about the mips, but only since 100mm shocks were mentioned. Without clocking the axles a bit the driveshaft angle gets worse. When the mips run close to their usable angle, they may start binding. Easy way to know is to feel the joint after running for a while... It'll be warm and in some cases hot, burning off lubrication. Ask me how i figured that one out.
