Default Killing a motor?

I've had this Tazer 4-pole 2800 kv motor for a while. It's been a good one. I've run it in a crawler, it spent a lot of time in a boat, and most recently in an emaxx. I noticed in the emaxx it started getting a LOT of hesitation sometimes, sometimes it would just roll for a while before jumping. I swapped it for a 1/8 motor and it runs perfect so I know the MMP is fine.

While I have the motor out I turned the rotor and it doesn't feel like it has the torque like it used too. I'm pretty sure it never exceeded 170 degrees but I know its been close many times. It has been run on 4S too. It's only rated to 3S.

So it has been abused, multiple times. Sunk in the boat once too.

So can you wear out a motor like this? Or am I just imagining it?

Of course you can wear the motor out. It sounds like its seen its better days. 1 brushless motors don't like water, 2 170° is pretty hot, 3 4s will shorten its life if its not rated for it due to heat increase and 4 from the list of cars you listed its sounds like you got your moneys worth out of that motor. Hell if its rebuildable why not do it and run it again.

I've beat on it pretty hard no doubt and with it not being a high end motor at all I got my moneys worth. I may just put it in a car and give it 6S for one last blast!!!

more like burning up the windings on the comm of a brushed motor, they are just on the can in a brushless. once the coating on the windings start burning up, its downhill from there.

I don't know that the windings are burnt. I'll take it apart and look. Whether its fixable or not doesn't matter. It has served me well. Plus it does still run.
