Default Smoldering Receiver.

I have been running my TLT on 9.6V through a TR2.
I have a seperate receiver battery connected after frying the BEC a number of months ago.

I had thought I would alter my main battery pack and add a tapping after 5 cells to eliminate the extra receiver battery.

My problem is that when I connect the battery pack to both the receiver and the ESC the reciver starts to smolder/smoke. It has also started to melt the insulation around the wires from the ESC to the reciver.

If I only connect to the battery to the receiver, no smoking

If I connect to the ESC only and add a seperate reciver pack, again all is fine.

Should I add a voltage regulator instead of tapping off?

Receiver is a Futaba R136F FM system.

Any help is much appreciated
