Default Recommended ESC/Motor Combo?

Ok, so I'm wanting plenty of torque and speed on an SCX10. Wanted to go with the Sidewinder 3 w/ RC4WD 35T motor. Thoughts? Greatly Appreciated

I would spend a little more money and get a waterproof HH BR-XL with a HH Torque Master Pro 27t.

There are a few BR-XL appear in the classified, also look at used FXR. For motor, the RC4wd one is not rebuildable. While it seems you are saving a bit but they can be rebuilt so in the long run, they are more expensive. How about HH torquemaster sport. They are about $40 each I think.

HH has a variety of different turn motors and a variety of prices. No matter what you get from him you can't go wrong. Why don't you shoot him an email including your rig specs. Model, weight, tire size, battery used- cell count and mah and he will set you up with what you need. No offense, but these what motor and esc for my ??? belong in the newb section.

Now there are some impossibilities...
The SCX10 can't handle plenty of torque and speed unless you spend some money upgrading the drive line before letting loose the power required.

But then again... it depends on your definition of "plenty"...

Then it's by no means "plenty" but rather normal.

A cheap 45T motor and 3S Lipo should then give you more torque and speed than you require...

I wont be using lipo, it'll be a 5000MAH nimh battery :P

And a 45 turn sounds a bit slow? I don't know though...

Maybe.....but im light on the throttle when needed....if that's the case for you the 35t would most likely be perfect..

45T is fairly slow on 8V, like modest walking speed when running flat out.
That's why I suggest a higher voltage to go with it.
The combo will provide more torque at low speed, better top end and higher efficiency compared to running a lower wind motor on lower voltage.

I do live the sv3....you are gonna have to program it out of the box it comes set up for brushless....set it for crawler reverse....crawler drag brake....and of course set the motor as brushed reverse...no delay for reverse

I run a 35t on 3s geared 16/87 and it works good for what I like.. not blazing speed, but enough for how I like to drive...and my temps stay nice... I had a wp brxl, but it's needing to be sent in to get looked at. I ran an axial ae-2 this Saturday at our locak g6. Hooked a bec up to it and ran 3s all day like a champ...my son has had an sv3 since castle first released it and it's been great...no issues after castle updated the firmware for it... it'll do what you need it to.
