Smashin/Stacking FXR Pro?

Just read the great tutorial from RcBRO regarding stacking Holmes Mini, did searches, and I was wondering if there were any tutorial to smash FXrs?

Any help would be really appreciated, Thanks!

Don't think so, but there's plenty of pictures of different ways to do it in build threads. I'm uploading a few of a set I did for someone a while back...I'll have them posted shortly "thumbsup"

So the first step was to decase them...

Next step was to remove most of the solder posts...

Then I stacked them by soldering one ESC to the posts on the other board...you can cut the posts shorter for a smaller package if you want...

Then it's just a matter of attaching battery/motor leads and routing them the proper directions...

Don't forget to install the appropriate capacitor as well. You can install the stock style on each ESC, or pick up the larger cap from Crawler Innovations.

Thanks a LOT!

How did you remove posts? just unsoldering?

Yep...you need a good quality iron and plenty of heat. You don't want to leave the iron in contact with the joint for more than a couple seconds...otherwise you're running a risk of damaging other components on the boards.

I did another set of these for someone where I shortened the solder posts to come out with the smallest package I could, but I can't find any of the pictures of that setup.

Great write up itty. I think chris-the-battery-man also has a similar thread on this.

The only other thing I would add is to use epoxy or something to reinforce the rx leads at the board. After time the wire gets worn and will break. Not a fun one to fix once the smash has been done.

Although I've never done this...it's definitely a good idea.

This is a great tip. I have had the RX wires come off of my CCSWM boards two or three times now. I will be using this method moving forward."thumbsup"

5 minute epoxy is the bees knees for the RX leads.

While supporting the RX wires is a great idea... ("thumbsup""thumbsup") I use "shoegoo"/"marinegoo", etc. It's a silicone sealer with a little more body to it. It also peels off easier when required.8)
