Question New motor makes clicking soind ,FWD only

Ok so I got my HH motor installed and fired it up today after a 10min little break in everything sounded great. an hour later I plug it back in and start to drive and there is a awful clicking in fwd only in reverse it does not make this noise. The sound does become less if more throttle is applied. Is the motor still not broke in yet? I don't want to drive it making this noise and fry my new motor. If I wiggle the brush a little the noise almost goes away but come right back. If all this sounds normal of a new motor then great.

Sport and expert motors will click if ran in the opposite direction it was broken in for. You could check that the brushes aren't chipped, otherwise drive it and the sound will go away as brushes wear in.

Everything looked good. I drove it around and it's getting to be less noticeable. What a phenomenal difference.

Ok I still have a clicking each time I start driving and about after 10min of driving it starts to go away. It is still only in fwd motion. I can't see any performance issue but it sure is annoying. Is there anything that can be done to eliminate this clicking/ratcheting sound

Does the frequency increase with increased speed? If so, your pinion grub screw might be contacting the spur. Move the pinion back slightly...

No,the more throttle it gets less, it's definitely not the grub screw.

How long does it take for the brushes to wear in, 3-5 packs? More-less?

Typically five to seven minutes. You could try flipping the brushes upside down too.

Your clicking may just be normal brush jitter. Brush dampers would fix it, we have some here if you want to take the hoods apart and install.

I can't always be on a forum for support, but if I run across something and I certainly give it what I can. I'm hoping that moving the Ebike business out will give me that extra time I need for surfing around here more often. I've been posting more recently because of a back problem that put me on the couch a lot, couldn't work so I might as well get on RCC!

And how hard is that? I had to Google how to inspect the brushes. Can't be that involved, huh?

Pull the hoods, install dampers, reinstall hoods.

Lately I've noticed a small buzzing at start of the throttle right before it starts to move. Today I'm driving and my esc goes thermal. Pull it apart and the brushes are over half way gone and 1 of them is chunked up and what looks like excessive build up in the comm. I don't know if this is normal wear & tear but can say it's never been wet , blown out with compressed air routinely. currently geared: 87/16 48p ran this set up for awhile until I added the RC4WD Irok Super Swamper . Does the motor need new brushes all ready or am geared high for the weight?
