Default bec help!?

looking for a cost effective bec, I have an ax10 with 2.2 weighted wheels and I'm using the hi-Tec mg645 (I think). Can you guys recomend a decently cheap bec, like hobbykings (if any one can give their opinion lmk) " eBay special " ect. ? I plugged my older tamiya esc and supposedly it doesn't restrict the voltage so my hitec servo was at 7.4v it was so fast and strong! But the esc reverse and brakes sucked. So if anyone can provide info that would be great. Or would the noname crawler esc from rc4wd with the bec attached be a better choice?

The BEC everyone uses is the Castle standard and it is less than $25 ( $20.99 at my LHS). To save a penny on this purchase would be a complete waste of time and effort.

Buy a castle BEC roughly $20-25 bucks and be done with it, then you will have no issues, you have tons of support and it's what TONS Of people use..
( me included)
.. Don't buy a knockoff or something, then you will just have to buy a castle in the future! CCBEC all the way...

CC bec for the win. The best and most well known widely used bec in the game. As far as that servo goes, that's not anywhere near strong enough for your rig.

Agree on that also, that should be your next upgrade after the BEC!

what servo should I get, I'm not trying to spend crazy amounts but it also doesn't have to be that fast, just as long as it can push lock to lock while crawling

On the lower end of good servos the Hi Tec 7954 or 7955 are both decent choices. The 7954 is the strongest of the 2. Next in line would be my least favorite of the popular servos, a Savox, the 1230 seems to be their go to high torque servo, but when I tried 1 out u went right back to my tried and true Hi Tec 7950. From my experience with the Savox servos they just don't seem to have the torque they are advertised to have.

7954 is $79.95 on eBay all the time. The 7955 is $85-100 depending on where you shop and the Savox 1230 is $75-85.

Hitec 7955 would be great for you it sounds like
I have had a 7955 on my old ax10 and it worked great for me.

The 7954 has a higher torque rating and is cheaper. Plus if you ever do strip the gears the Ti 7950 gear set will drop right in the 7954. What servo you choose also has a lot to do with what you intend to do with your rig.

Listen to them! Lol.. hitec always!

Tho a hitec may not be a budget servo right now... its a budget servo 5 years from now! It may cost twice as much as you want to spend but it lasts 5 times longer!

I recommend the 7950 at All costs.. yeah, its 140$.. but divide it by 5.. now multiply the other servos times 5.. cause that's how many you will end up buying.. Which ones better on ur budget!?

what about dual mg645 with a bec? Possibly link the servos to each other and each servo to the wheel?

To much work IMO... To much hassle as well I thinks U can pick up a good used 7950 for $75-85 on here in the classifieds, That's what I would do!
Or find a used 7955
It's worth a little downtime to save a few extra pennies and get something worth a darn. I've been in your shoes before. I as well had a 645 on my first rig but I learned the hard way lol I went through 4 cheap servos till I bit the bullet and bought a good one. I've owned a 7955, 7950 and now a 7980 and have not had a hiccup of problems out of those 3!

I don't know where you stand financially nor is it any if my business but if you have $20 it's deff worth the year subscription to RCC and get a green star and you can view them now, plus you will able to enter in all the free giveaways!!
You will save the $20 on your first couple of purchases usually!
I've saved a lot of $ buying stuff from members and vendors on here... Way more than the $20 I paid for my star !

It's a good deal lol
