Default Axial ESC Woes

I recently was crawling and noticed my stock 27t just wasnt working. It would get hot, lose power etc etc. I even dropped some gearing to make up for the 1.9 Proline swamper xls. Still got hot

So I picked up a Tekin 35t rebuildable. Got the connections soldered on, powered up the Honcho, set it on the floor, it moved a foot maybe 2. Then nothing. Picked it up, sat it on the table thinking the connections on the motor came loose, then smoke came out of the esc. Quickly unplugged the battery.

Now when I plug in the battery and the switch is OFF, it powers forwards or reverse depending on the connections to the motor. I still have the bullet style connections.

At this point Im sure the ESC is fried. I just want to make sure that swapping the motor is a pretty straight forward task and I didnt do anything wrong...

Any input would be awesome, especially on a good replacement esc.

Thanks

There's only 2 wires going to a brushed motor even hooked up backwards it would just reverse the controls. Only way you could mess it up I could think of is heating the wires up too much and heat transfer into the ESC damaging it or crossing the motor wires whiles there power but you would notice some sparks and heat from that.

The wires for the motor were unsoldered off my old 27t then soldered onto the tekin. Then I hooked up the bullet connections to the ESC. So ESC never saw any heat from solder

So this is just one of those things that comes with the hobby you would say?

Ok so I picked up a Sidewinder SCT ESC from the LHS. I have seen online, specifically on here, that people have used them with the SCX10.

No luck...I also have a castle link and tried all the settings people have said to change to make it work and it does nothing. Does the Castle initial Chime, then 2 beeps for 2 ls, then it does the Castle Chime again twice to say that it is paired with a transmitter and ready to go. It will not turn the motor. I know the motor is good as I have tried it on another rig that belongs to a friend

Any input would be great. Thanks

OK, good.

You never stated you did the RX/ESC calibration. Did you?

What do the LED's show?

Have you looked over the CC troubleshooting?

I cant do the calibration, it does not respond. I even tried a second Transmitter and receiver. Same thing. When its turned on it does the chimes like it should then a yellow light indicating it is in neutral and ready to go.

I also do not have steering either.

Let me try one more time and document my results

This is what it does with My setup. Stock axial transmitter and receiver

No chimes at power up

"Flashing all colors = speed control is not receiving a valid signal from the receiver, usually indicates the receiver wire is plugged in backwards into the receiver; possible problem with controller or with throttle channel on receiver."

On a friends it does the chimes, then goes into needing to be calibrated mode beeps but we cant calibrate it.

Put in the stompers radio box , no chimes at power up and its blinking yellow, try to turn the wheel to get the servo to move and it goes red or solid green. Throttle does nothing

and now the stomper is broken because its ESC decided to smoke. I swear everything I touch today is turning to shit, My car started leaking gas this morning too

Got it fixed after a call to Castle. Awesome support.

My receiver box and or transmitter is bad and I had it on the incorrect brushed setting.

It works now using the RC4WD stomper receiver and transmitter
