Brushless ESC won't run a brushed motor.
Brushed ESC won't run a brushless motor.

Dual type ESC (Castle Creations Mamba Max Pro as an example) can run either type motor, but needs to be set for the motor type.

Would there be a way to program my esc to run a brushed esc.

Go to Novaks site. Read the specs for the esc in question. If it does not mention being able to run a brushed motor, then it cannot.

Well, no, you can probably program it. All you need to do is crack open the case, find the processor, identify the connections you would need to take a serial connection to it, write new firmware and flash it!

Can the castle creations sidewinder 3 run a brushesd motor? Does the team tenkin 35t hand wound brushed motor need to be broken in? If so how would be the best way to do that?

Instead of us answering some of these questions, why don't you research the ESC's you're interested in? If something does not make sense, then ask.

As to breaking in the 35T motor, running it at light load on ~5 volts for 5 minutes is fine. You can also do it in the rig, keep the throttle at ~1/2 for 5 minutes to let the brushes seat.

DON'T use a "water break-in".

Holmes & Br00d motors come already broken in.
