Default where to get dx7 transmitter lipo?

looked on hobbyking, I find their website not the easiest to navigate. I need a decent transmitter battery for my DX7-
I also need to pick up the male plug for the specktrum so I can make a charging lead for the battery when I find one. anyone know what they are called?
links to products would be great!

Hobby king is very easy to navigate and they list all the specs when you're looking at a particular battery. Take measurements inside the case so you can find a battery that will fit. Or, you can ask in an aircraft forum being that the DX7 is an aircraft radio.

Is this the lead you are looking for? Also, this is the battery I use in my DX8, should work fine in the DX7 too.

a stock battery is 9.6v, I have heard of using a 3s lipo with out issue but that seems like a pretty good upswing to me-

Am I being overly cautious?

Does the DX8 manual say that you can use a 3s lipo?

I just checked the DX8 manual and it is recomended to use 2s lipo max.

In case you want to use a 3s lipo which is 11.1 volt then you will have to bring down its voltage to 7.4 volt. If you use the 11.1 volt battery consider your DX8 fried. To bring the 11.1 volt down to 7.4 volt you will have to use an appropriate voltage regulator IC with the 3s lipo pack.

-----------------------------------------------------------
The LM7808 or LM7806 ic will work in your case. The LM7808 will give some 0.6volt more than what your radio will need and the LM7806 will give 1.4 volt less than 7.4 volt. Incase you plan to go ahead with the use of an IC, first check the output voltage with a multimeter and make sure it is inside the recomended voltage level and only then plug it into your radio.

Yes a 3s lipo will fry it. I got the 2500mah nimh, never looked back. I remember reading that the life packs would be ok, they are 3.3v per cell, so 3s would be 9.9, and should be within the limits.
