Default Charging dual NiMh packs

Hi Peeps.

Seriously thinking about running 2x 7.2v NiMh packs in series for a 14.4v pack to run in my scaler.

for charging i was going to just charge them as single 7.2v packs on my NiMh charger, but then i was thinking i have a Ctek 7A charger that has multi stage charge sequencing for Automotive LeadAcid batteries, and also Gel/SLA batteries.

the Gel/SLA setting has approx 0.5v higher output than the LeadAcid setting so i figured 15.2v would be enough to charge my two NiMh packs if i charge them as one pack

what do yall think???

The charge curve & peak charge values are different for each battery chemistry. Using a lead acid setting on a NiMH pack runs the risk of overcharging the pack.

Use a NiMH setting.

I think your first choice of charging them as two separate packs would get you the best performance out of each pack. Of course it would take longer to charge the pack but the pack will also last longer as you would not run the risk of overcharging them.
