Default 772 Solar sevo ?

pardon my lack of servo knowledge...

but what are the two screws on the top of the servo for ?

I need to disassemble this servo to water proof it...
But I wasn't sure if those two screws need be removed to do that ?

thought I'd ask before finding out the harder way

The top two don't do a damned thing. If they were longer and the case was set up for them then they'd be there to keep things in check but survey says that top is used on some higher end servos so they used the short screws to plug the holes.

Yeah, they're the screws to nowhere.

long story...
and in a moment of idiocy

I fubar'd the rubber O-ring seals that encircle the case seams...
was two there originally.

Wondered where I might find generic replacements for those ?

I realized after losing those... besides helping with the seal...
they are needed to keep the housings from compressing too much.

anyone know where I could get those ?

will this work ? http://www.hobbypeople.net/index.php...waterseal.html
^ fairly generic in size ? (stretch to fit) ?

guess I'll call HobbyPartz (where I bought 'dem)
and see if they have some.

Either pull one off of another old junk servo or just slap some silicone on there and screw it together.

You'll never find those o-rings anywhere. For $17.50, just get another one, chalk this up to a lesson learned, and now you'll have a whole spare for parts.

already have another new one...
but that's getting waterproofed as well...
^ 'least i won't mess that one up by losing the seals

I found some servo O-rings/watershed seals...
cost $ 5. to see if it might fit tho'

^ detail specs pertaining to fitting a standard size servo case...
or some dimensions would help here. (obviously not common)

never the less...
I intend to correct this one...
even if I have to epoxy it together !? Lol

Do you plan on using plasti-dip? That's the last step I have to do to mine. I just can't find clear plasti-dip locally.

^ yeah...

I used Never Wet on the circuit board...
packed some extra grease in/around the output shaft of the primary gear.
As well the grease seated O-ring... around the output shaft.
My clamp on style servo horn seals up lightly against (sandwiches) the O-ring.

was gonna plastic dip (spray) the entire casing last.

but first, now... gotta come up with a coupla' new O-ring seals.

guess I'll work on waterproofing the other one... 'til I find 'dem.

BTW...

my servo is black... so I use the black plastic dip spray

Just looked it up. It's not supposed to be used on electronics according to Rustoleum's website.

I guess you have used this stuff on circuit boards before without issue. Sounds good.

A few big companies have experimented with it and had good results, haven't tried it myself.

I have a couple of these servos and they aren't bad imo. A bit overrated but in the 300-350 oz/in range at 7.4v it seems.

Not really. I've bench tested mine at 7.5v and it stalled at 432oz.@ 2.92A. And it really didn't get that hot. The only thing I'm not sure about is longevity. I haven't ran mine yet because I've yet to build the rig it's going into.

Nice! Didn't feel like it. Haven't had any heat issues, I'm at the 2nd hole from the splines. Which hole did you test at? Stock arm?

Stock arm, last hole out which is 1" from the spline center...that's where you get the max torque from the servo. You're losing torque by using the 2nd hole from spline center.

It's my first attempt at using the stuff...

But there are boat loads of video on YouTube pertaining
to it's use and tested watershed results.

Cleaner looking then brushing goobers onto the circuit boards, IMO.

I would still seal the external openings of the servo case.

But I'll doubt there's complaint of overkill when waterproofing

Good tip, any reasoning there? is it set up for 1" being ideal, or is the 1" a good guideline for any servo?
