| New to electric motors question
Hi, I'm new to the electric scene. I've had gassers for years. Years ago someone gave me a bunch of electrical stuff and included was a Team Orion Super Touring hand wound motor. The only numbers I see is 13x4. Can anyone tell me if this would be a decent trail/crawler motor for my Wraith that I just bought? thanks, Jeff |

It might work, but should lean towards the "racer" side of Wraith use. 13x4 should mean four (thin) wires in parallel wound 13 turns around the anchor, so in practice a 13T motor. For slow crawling and walk paced trail I'd suggest 20T or more. Last edited by Olle P; 11-11-2013 at 06:58 AM. |

Thanks! I plan on getting a HH Torquemaster pro 35t as soon as the funds recoup. Could I gear it down with the pinion and spur gears for temporary use?

| Re: New to electric motors question You could but I would be very careful about applying throttle in a bind. A 13t will let the smoke out pretty easy.

Hmmmm....13T quad...... frikkin fast motor. With enough gearing, it would work for a crawler. Not great, but would work. In general a 35T brushed (or equivalent) on 3S LiPO covers a broad range of crawler type rigs. |

I mounted the motor up for now and it's actually not that bad with 12/60 gearing.

| Re: New to electric motors question Ok, this is just a temporary motor until I get a HH 35t TQM next week.
