Bluebird servo glitching BADLY! So I got a BMS660DMG servo for my SCX10 (BMS-660DMG+HS Super Strong Digital Servo (MG) 14.2kg / .17sec / 52g) and it's totally useless right now. If I move it really, reallllly slowly it will usually move, but as soon as I try to move it faster it will sort of twitch like it's trying to move, and then it just stops dead and the light on my receiver goes red for a sec. I think it's drawing too much current. I tried it with a hobbyking 5a BEC, the stock HPI ESC, even tried the novak glitchbuster capacitor but nothing has helped. Hoping someone has another suggestion? |
Re: Bluebird servo glitching BADLY! My guess is it's the cheap electronics in the servo itself. I have one at home for a test servo, and if I hook it up to my BR-XL ESC (which is known to have a very robust built in BEC) it makes the motor glitch and do odd things when I turn the wheel, as well as the servo itself jumping and jittering. But put it on a castle 10a external BEC and it's fine. I'll throw it on a watts up meter when I get home for you and tell you how much current it's drawing if you want. Just FYI, my Savox servos do the same thing. |
Re: Bluebird servo glitching BADLY! I agree. Sounds like a board in the servo went schizo. It can happen in any servo, but seems to happen in cheapos alot more. kinda like buying re-manufactured auto parts. It's risk/reward thing when buying cheap. |
Re: Bluebird servo glitching BADLY! As promised, I put the bluebird on the meter, and it pulled just over 3Ah. I'm far from an expert in these matters, but from a little reading a lot of built in BEC's on ESC's are only capable of putting out something like 2-4amps. So either your BEC's can't supply the load once everything is powered up, or the servo is having issues and drawing more current than it needs. |
Re: Bluebird servo glitching BADLY! Oops, guess I didn't hit submit earlier? Anyway, I figured you had a good point abut the bec and I ordered a castle bec. Just hooked it up and it works fine now. Thanks! |
Re: Bluebird servo glitching BADLY! Good deal, glad it worked for you. |
