Default Futaba 4pls and mmp arming issue

Hey guys,
I have searched the electronics forum here and online and can't find a solution that works.

Problem: new 4pls and rx. 1yr old mmp. Switched the throttle on the rx to rev like castle recommends. Plugged in mmp and turn on, it won't arm. (Goes thru first set of tones but not second). I've tried multiple combinations of setting the motor to rev or norm and the throttle to rev or norm. Changed the end points to over 100 and under 100. Added expo and taken it away. Set motor to castlelink defaults. Nothing will arm the mmp.

I plugged the mmp into the steering spot on the rx and it will propel fw or rev put it back in throttle and nothing.

Any other options are appreciated.

do you have another esc to put in the #2 spot? If so try it and make sure the rx is good. If I recall correctly my MMP does like yours if its not connected to the rx.

Plug a servo into the throttle port, see if the trigger makes the servo move.

Futaba radio, you already reversed the throttle which is needed.

Set throttle EPA's to 100%
Set throttle trims to "0" (including subtrims)
Calibrate.

Sometimes you need to open the deadband on the ESC a little bit.

Have you tried calibrating the ESC?

I took exocaged s advice and tried a diff esc. Again it wouldn't arm. For grins I did what lilpanther suggested and went thru calibration with the diff esc. It recognized it and successfully calibrated and then successfully armed.

I assumed it wouldn't calibrate if it couldn't arm out of the box. With all my other cheap radios the mmp has always armed even without calibration. Is there something in the programming of the futaba radios that prohibits them from working without calibration?

Glad to hear it worked.

I'm not sure if there is something in their programming. I have a GT3C, But I don't remember if it armed without being calibrated.

Did you ever find a solution for this problem. I have been having similar problems with my mmp but after it was already working fine. Now same problems with a FXR that I had setting around for a backup.

Newer esc's won't arm unless they detect 0 throttle or brake input from the radio. If you have the trim adjusted one way or the other it won't arm unless you push or pull the trigger enough to put it back to 0.
