Default Help! Why is my MMP way faster in reverse?

So when I go forward the ESC lights up green. So I know its going forward. In reverse its faster than heck. EPAs are at 100, Power is set to 100. A is to A Bis to B and C is to C. Cant figure it out. I'm running a 13.5 Novak in a 2 speed wraith.

What's the motor timing at? Did you calibrate to your radio?

My MMP with PRO4 it also runs faster in reverse than forward. I think it does this because the motor in running in reverse. Not the normal way the motor usual rotation. If I wrong please let me know? Thanks

I just want to say when I mean faster I mean ballons the tires and straight gets it.

What is weird is I swear it comes and goes. Everything seems to be as it should on the radio and ESC. I'm not a newbie, I've been doing this for years, its just my first time trying brushless in my crawlers. I'm suspecting maybe the ESC is just funky and I am going to slap in a sidewinder temporarily to see how that works. I have a Novak Crusher ESC with a Novak Ballastic 18.5 in my SCX10 and they are wired the same and its acting normal. So I am suspecting its the ESC.

Have you tried reversing the channel on your radio and recalibrating the ESC? Or like the other person said, Hook the ESC up to castle link and switch it to reverse rotation?

Did all that. I installed my sidewinder v3 and it was the same speed both directions BUT the speed was wasn't as fast as the MMP in reverse. On the SV3 I did have both forward and reverse set to 100%. So we can rule out all radio and mechanical motor timing settings for sure.

I think my MMP is messed up. I like it but I think it is messed up. I had a little issue when field testing and accidentally hooked up my power to my CC BEC backwards. It fried the CC BEC and heated up the black wire on the receiver/servo harness of the MMP pretty good. I bench tested the MMP and all seemed well. I replaced the harness. Last night it seemed fine but one time I hit reverse and it flipped. It never did that before. SO I took it in and looked at the wiring and hooked it up to the computer and nothing. I tried reversing the radio, reversing direction & swapping A & C wire around. That last one caused some serious cogging.

After swapping with a known good ESC I think my MMP is messed up and maybe adding gobs of timing or something in reverse? What ever it is, it's alot more powerful.

Read the manual....

The ESC isn't messed up, Between your radio and ESC something isnt programmed correctly.

you put your body on backwards and are really going forward sorry couldn't resist. I've had this happen a long while back if i remember right for me i just recalibrated the radio and it corrected it i think...or i reversed the motor from the controller

when running it..green led should be forward..red led reverse.

if you pull the throttle for forward motion and it lights up red..wrong.

hook it up to castle link and rev the throttle input.

cant you switch two wires from the esc and motor around and switch the direction and then recalibrate radio.

No because it is a Sensored brushless set-up, On a seonsorless set-up you can change the wires but not on a sensored set-up.

The simple holding the throttle down before the esc is on, letting it recognize and doing the same do reverse

Dude. I don't mean to be a Debbie downer but I've heard scary bad things about Novak motors, sometimes they just won't spin up, sometimes the flip polarity, really sick s***. I hope you figure it out though, I would be inclined to say its the transmitter programming but I believe you when you say you have that all right. Good luck!

The Novak motors have a built-in 15 degree timing that is by default negated in Novak's crawler ESCs.

If your motor is running in its reverse direction when going forward you thus have a -15 degrees timing!

Ideal is if you can rotate the tranny to have the motor run in the right direction.
The other option is to add at least 15 degrees timing in the ESC.

(I had the same problem with my motor, which can have no less than 15 degrees mechanical timing on the sensor.)

So (for the slow-learners...myself) if your motor has -15 deg timing on the can (15 deg running in reverse), and you run 15 deg timing on the speedo. You are running 0 deg timing? Right?

Well that just makes sense.

Correct. Net is 0 degrees going forward and 15 degrees while running in reverse (where the ESC is locked to 0 degrees).
