Default possible cheap 3 positon 3 channel system

I was looking for a cheap 3 position system for a friend of mine that wants to run a winch, i told him to get a dx3e but he doesnt want to spend the cash on one. while searching for a system for him i came across this:
https://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/...dProduct=12177

has a switch for the 3rd channel, so in theory could be modded like a TQ3 with a toggle. For the price i dont think it can be beat if a toggle works. Anyone ever give this a shot? or should I order one and be a test rat?

Try it out and let everyone know.

If you can't mod the 3rd channel to a 3 position switch, then HeyOK makes a winch controller that works off a 2 position switch.
Of course, by that time, you've spent almost as much as a hacked GT3B which can do up to 8 channels and lots of programming/mixing options.

So, I wonder if the programming kit for the GT3B would work on this Turnigy copy as well. My apologies if this is already common knowledge... lol.

Instead if hacking since it's an on off toggle I wondering if it could be done with a $5 3 way toggle instead of hacking. I use a couple dx3e's with heyok controllers on 2 of my rigs. My buddy just doesn't want to put money into a radio at the time. I may need to just get one and see if it can be done but I'm not sure since it's just on off, he may end up just gettin my tq3 with a toggle since I have one jus sitting

Nope won't work with a simple toggle. The switch on it is already a 3 way switch but the firmware in it only supports a 2 way switch function.

Its gotta be hacked to work as a true 3 way switch.

20 some odd bucks from overkill is well worth the cash. You get true 3 positions switches, servo/esc mixing and up to 8 channels. The hack does WAy more than add 3 position switch functionality.
