| Electric motors burning up in cold weather
to start off i am using holmes hobbies motors, and forgive me if this question has been asked before, but i live in Oklahoma and we just got some snow. My dad and I have been driving our scalers outside and my first motor, a HH 35t torque master, burnt up in about 10 minutes, so i replaced it with a HH sport, which had the same results, and my third motor as well. My father, who is running a similar set up on a 3S has had no problems. I am running a 4S and i have a 72 mhz radio, i have had a severe glitching problem. I have concluded that my motor spinning back and forth repeatedly and the voltage being spiked has resulted in this problem. any help would be appreciated, Thanks in advance.

so you think it is the glitching ? i thought so also but wanted to hear everybody else's thoughts. I'm sure the 4S doesn't help either. Thanks.

Glitching and 4S are for sure not helping. Glitches are brutal and 4S means much more frequent maintenance. |

Also, when upping the voltage to 4S, you should have changed gearing, either lower tooth count pinion or higher tooth count spur. As Holmes himself says, "Volt up, gear down". | |

Running in snow typically adds drag, so if your setup worked fine (with a warm motor) on bare ground the snow might be killing it! (Happened to me!) |
