Default Axial Light ain't bright

So I got an axial simple LED controler and an axial 5 light bar and they just aint bright.
Is there a better type LED I can use with the axial light bar?
The whole thing looks great, it just doesn't put out.

How bright is it? Simple controller is only meant for 4- 5mm LED front and 2 - 5mm rear I think? You have 5 LEDs so my guess is one too many = dimmer.

One side of the controller is at a higher output than the other. Try switching the side the lights go into.

I'd like to know more regarding the OP's inquiry.

I have 4 lights up front and two in the rear.
using a single Axial "simple light controller" for those.
And the current light output seems good.

But I also have a 5 LED light bar to install.
and was wondering if I needed a second "SLC"
to run more lights then the 6 LED's I have currently ?

Does the "simple light controller" regulate output voltage to 4.8v ?
Both outputs the same ? anyone test that ?

Instead of running a second "SLC"...
I also thought about running a separate battery designated specifically
for the overhead light bar/LED's.
Doing it that way... I'd likely put a on/off switch inline.

What's the best way to add this 5 LED light bar to the system ?

I currently utilize the CCBEC set at 6.0v
^ if that makes any difference ?

One option for the light bar is to build you own LED strings and use a micro switch.
If you want the lights to be controlled by your radio, HeyOk makes several really nice light controllers.

This thread has really good information about LEDs.

I went with the Axial NVS system!! It gives, headlights, Light bar 5 LEDs, turn signals, rear tail lights....plus up to 5 additional AUX LED pairs. It is pretty cool.

Oh I have a simple LED controller too just because the previous owner installed it with a 9V battery and I thought it was cool.

Thanks guys. I'll try switching plugs. FYI, the axial site lists the simple controler works with the ax24256 5 light string.

I added a couple lights to mine so I know they will handle 6 LEDs. If plugging into the other end doesn't fix it, I'd say you have a bad one.

Could the lack of brightness be due to 2s lipo powet rather than 3s ?

Voltage input would make no difference. The receiver still sees 5-6 v regardless if your running 2s or 3s lipo. That's the whole reason for running BEC's to increase voltage and amperage instead of the standard that is coming through the speed control to the receiver to the plugged in device.

FYI, I checked the switching of the plugs on the simple controller last night. The 5 light string will only work on one outlet. The 2 light string works on either outlet.

This may or may not be related, but i just picked up 2 yellow LED's from radio shack for fun and soldered them into the outer bumper lights. They're WAY WAY dimmer (basically like a parking light compared to a headlight)

Maybe your setup has been repaired with lesser LED's?

I have the axial simple led setup, two actually, the light bar plus the proline bumper. I stuck two bare leds in the bumper, for driving lights, and noticed they are much brighter than the rest. I believe its the lenses in the buckets, maybe the brush guards block a little, but the lenses seem to be to blame. Does anyone make CLEAR lenses? I have the proline light bar, they have cleared lenses but after getting them I dont like the look.
