Default help with winch please

Hello all hoping someone here can solve my problem for me.
I broke my stock radio that came with the truck so yesterday i bought a new spektrum dx3c from the hobby shop here locally. the radio is sure an upgrade from what i have had in the past. i've been able to set up the truck so it drives and steers but for the life of me i cant get the winch to work on the thrid channel. what am i doing wrong here?

it should be as straightforward selecting 3p in the menu for the aux channel in the tx, when you set the channel to 3p plug a servo into the rx aux channel and go through the different positions with the aux buttons to make sure the servo is in fact moving through 3 different positions i.e left, centre, right.

also make sure the travel for the servo on aux is set to its max values in case it is not, the aux channel does not auto return to the centre position on the dx3 series radios so you always have to return it to centre your self when using it, once you have it working correctly with the servo attached then try the winch controller and remember once that is working to rebind the tx and rx with the aux channel in its middle position so it will set the failsafe to that position so the winch will not spool in/out if you lose signal, turn it off, or batteries die.

just to help others in troubleshooting what winch controller are you using?

also it might be worth trying the winch controller in the steering and throttle channels as you have those working fine and it would possibly indicate if the issue was down to the winch controller being the culprit instead.

quite a few different winches there so just to help you out:

1st pic: 3 racing winch

2nd pic: rc4wd winch

3rd pic: servo winch, either just a modified servo with original pcb or upgraded with heyok winch controller

4th pic: kms winch with heyok controller.

its the first pic of the winches, the one that has a the push button controller, i assume its when you dont want to run it through your esc. you can just push the tiny button for the winch to operate.
I know the winch works as ive tested that. but will run through your lists when i get home,
thanks again for the info

aww thats not good to hear, im assuming you killed the controller, if so and you would one day like the scale look of the winch then dont forget about the heyok controller.

glad you got it working but its sad to hear its now dead.

tony.

beats me, I used it to drag a bag of presents across the room
then tried it on my stairs. motor either got hot or the controller decided to go south on me. its cool i just wanted to know that the third channel was working. got the servo already to go just need some mounting ideas
