Default as-3 servo into a winch servo?

Im trying to convert a as-3 servo into a winch. I am running a 3pm radio and my steering servo will center using the 3 speed setup for the radio. The as-3 will continue to spin and will only change direction and wont center so to speak. Anyone have any ideas to get to work as a winch?

I have pulled the pin out and the plastic fork piece. Thats why when I plug it in it continues to spin. I am lookung in how to get it to stop turning so the line would stop spooling.

You need adjust and center the potentiometer.
The videos show different options of that.
Most seem to use CA glue to secure that once centered.

btw...

Even tho' the AS3 is metal geared...
Axial installed plastic bushings on the output gear.

That is a fail... and will likely result in poor gear mesh or breakage later on.
Changing out the plastic bushings to ball bearings
will offer a more proper gear mesh and for a longer period of time.

Agreed, either center the pot in order to use the stock board or rip out the internal board altogether and run an esc as a controller.

I would talk to heyok from the forum here. his controller seems fool-proof. that's the route I'm going when I build mine.

Haven't seen one. Pretty straight forward though, once the stopper pin from the main gear and electronics are removed from a servo it's essentially a motor and transmission. Hook the motor side of the esc to the servo motor and figure out the battery side, done deal.

To add to this ,the rebuild kit for the traxxas 2075 servo has the correct size bearings for the conversion...if you can get the bearing size you may can just get bearings for less..the rebuild kit is under $10 though if im not mistaken.
