| Which Hi tech servo?
Hard time deciding on which Hi tech servo. Choosing between the HS-7955TG and the HS-7954SH. About a $30 price difference between the two. They both push about the same oz at 6.0v. The 7954 is metal gear and also a high voltage servo. The 7955 is Ti gear but not high voltage. I don't think I would ever need over 400oz with the 7954sh set for 7.4v. I think over 300oz is overkill enough. Is the Ti gears that much better? It will be installed in my scx-10 G6 build, which will have a CC bec(set to 6.0v), tekin fx-r and 35t motor and using a Futaba 4pl. Run on both 2s and 3s if that matters. Plan on just running 1.9s too. Any info is appreciated. Thanks |

Go with the 5955. I have one in my scx10 and it's more than enough. I still haven't bumped up the BEC to 7.4v yet and it still has more than enough power and it's cheaper.

I use 7955tg in both my rigs and love them because I never have a problem. They never break on me and have all the torque I need for pushing the limits. They are expensive but you only have to buy it once ever. I water proof mine with plasti dip also

I run a HS-7954SH servo in my SCX10 with no issues. If you do a little searching you can find them for around $75 while the the HS-7955 runs around $99. You can use what you save for other upgrades.

I run 7954 in everything. When you need it and don't have it, you'll wish you paid the extra for the OZ's

| Re: Which Hi tech servo? ??? Did you mean "go with the 7954" The 7955 isn't rated for 7.4v, only 4.8 and 6.0 and its more expensive than than 7954, unless I'm looking on the wrong sites. From what I researched (quickly) the 5955 is not made anymore.

The Titanium gears are desirable because they wear much slower, which means the servo stays tighter for longer. The lack of slop in the geartrain also helps keep shock-loading off of the MK gear, which is the weak link in both servos. There both great servos, so you really can't go wrong. I'd say run the best one you can afford. I'm currently running the 7954 straight off of 2s in both my SCX's and feel that it is exactly enough overkill for me. Make sure to pair your servo with a decent aluminum horn. The blue ones the Hitec's come with are basically a joke for crawling purposes. They probably work well in airplanes or something. |

I run a 7950th in everything. No one uses that servo? I'm kind of surprised.

Thanks for all your input guys. I bit the bullet and ordered the 7954 for $72 from rcsuperstore and the futaba 4pl for $230 from the same place. I now have everything to complete the build except paint. Can't wait!

Fwiw. Hitec factory pilots run the 7955 on 7.4v. I run mine on 7v without issue and will probably end up bumping that up to 7.4v.

One exception is a Futaba BLS197(?) I run in my XR-10, but that came with a used roller I bought. I've had a few issues with the 7954's, it's the only HiTec servo I don't recommend, I suggest the 7950 instead. | |

| Re: Which Hi tech servo? What issues did you have with the 7954? I won't be running any comps, just some backyard trailing and some crawling. I am usually pretty easy on my gear. I'm usually not the balls out type. Just like to research and buy quality components for my rig.

The 7955 is (in my opinion) the best choice. I ran them in my Revos, my Mugen eMBXTs, and all my 2.2 builds. Pretty much they perform great. Do you need more then 333oz of torque in a scaler? |

7950 is a great servo, but useless in my opinion in a 1.9. The OP was wondering about the 7955 and the 7954. both premium servos, same warranty, 7954 has more power(HV), and cheaper. No brainer 7954. Ive stripped Ti gears quite a few times, case cracks at the main gear seat, gears munched. Why all this 7950 talk. |

| Re: Which Hi tech servo? Sorry for the confusion. I meant 7955. Was a little confused on the servo. I thought the 7954 was the more expensive one but that's the TH that's more expensive. The 7955 might be more expensive than the 7954-SH, but it's a work horse. I have yet to have a problem with mine and it's covered in plati dip and has marine grease on the inside. I've had my rig submerged and it just keeps going.

I ordered 2 7954s that will be here tommorow. I got it for a good deal for 80 bucks a piece. More voltage is better because it give it more torque and makes it faster.
