| using a winch with a 2 channel radio
Does anybody have any experience wiring a winch to run on the steering controls of a 2 channel radio. I need an idea of how to wire the toggle switch. Also what kind of toggle switch is needed 3 pole or 6 pole. I will also need the winch controller provided with the winch correct?

It is almost impossible to run a wired winch with a 2 ch. Because if you had a 3 or 4 ch then you can toggle a switch and so on. But honestly if I where you I would run a wireless winch from rc4wd, they are a little bit more but you can get a good lipo battery and run a Y- connector for the esc and the winch. Then you would have a wireless control. That's your best option unless you pick up a 3 ch from spektrum or futaba, - axial 4x4 crawler

using a 2 channel radio, you have to operate your winch by hand - or use a wireless controller that can be purchased separate from the winch. I think what you are asking is a way to operate the winch by turning the wheels. You would have to do everything on the car, not the transmitter. When the receiver got the signal to turn the wheels, it would also operate the winch. To accomplish this, you have to wire the winch and servo together with a cut off switch inline to the winch so the winch would not operate while driving but could be operated, by flicking the switch, when needed with the steering controls. Do I see your question correctly? |

There are videos on youtube where they flip a switch to change between steering and winch operation, just no clear wiring diagram. You always have throttle, yo just dont have steering when using the winch.

what about the toggle switch heyok makes, wwould that be suitable enough to give a selectable dual output function from the steering output from the rx channel?

Could also go with a Flysky radio (There is a used GT3B in the classifieds) and that can be setup to run winch on the ch3 trim without hacking it. But you'd need Heyok's winch controller that will stop the winch from creeping.

a servo toggle switch is basically what i am looking for, going to hook the winch and steering servo to it. just trying to figure out how to do the wiring to make one myself.

This is how I did mine.when you flip the switch one way you have steering. When you flip it the other way you have winch...BUT I was using a servo winch. It works the same just the power to the winch runs off the battery. |

i made the dual pole switch but powered the switch from a bec. the only line running to the receiver is the signal wire.

| It's as simple as plugging the winch box into your third channel. If your concerned about a brown out then you can feed power from a BEC and just the signal wire back to the receiver. No need to worry about any switch or anything else. |

| Re: using a winch with a 2 channel radio LOL...It's not that simple. The 3ch he's talking about is only on or off. Sure he could plug the winch into the third ch. Then turn it on or off.But he wouldn't be able to run the line out or in he'd have no signal. So he would need a switch to switch between the 2 devices. One way he'd have winch. Flip the switch he'd have servo. Ya got to have a way to get the signal and power together at once. And you can't have everything working at once.

| Re: using a winch with a 2 channel radio Yep...The heyok setup is real good. But I'm one of those..."see if I can make it" guys....lol The set up works great.it's just flipping a switch to go between the two.The only down side is you can't steer and use the winch at the same time.
