Default very strange motor question

i have a scx10 honcho and i put a cheap 10 dollar venom 35t motor in it and noticed it to b not much slower then the 27t
well the other day i put a 35t hpi 14 dollar motor in my friends scx10 wrangler and what a difference
and then also my scx10 honcho with the 35t venom keeps up with my other friends wraith with a 20t axial motor..

so my question is:
is my venom motor wound wrong or is the hpi wound wrong or r they just labeled wrong

the 2 scx10s have the same gearing..
i was thinking the only way to figure out the screwy setup it to buy another 35t and try it

any ideas

I would say it is a gearing difference, maybe tire circumferences? That is if it is the same motor and the same power supply

If they have adjustable timing check it. I have had a 55 turn integy for nearly a decade and it has always been a good motor. I decided to pick up a 35 turn integy awhile back and it had sweet punch much like a 20 turn but got hot very quickly so I pulled it out and put it on the bench chalking it up to a lesson learned. I picked up a motor lathe awhile back so I started going through my old motors and found that the timing on the 35 turn was off about 30*

Cut the comm, retimed it to 0* and now it's working great.

If it's a sealed can then yes, it's a cheap lesson learned. If the end bell is exposed it should be adjustable.

I have a 55 turn holmes sportmaster that is a buttery smooth motor but I wanted more punch hence the 35 turn integy. Bang for the buck I'd say give an integy motor a try, they are cheap and rebuild-able.

Though the gearing is the same it can still be a reason.
The 20T motor might be struggling while the 35T motor have a leisure time at the same gearing. End result is they put out the same torque and revs, but the 20T will run warmer and use more current.

Another factor is vehicle weight. Heavier = Slower. Do they weigh the same?
